Never used wool for purse nets, didn't think it would be strong enough .
But they seem to be working for him...so good enough
Couldn't get him to knock us up a couple pair of bed sox could you? my feet are freezing these cold nights
Kenny, when you pick your ferret up...how do you do it? Do you lift it from underneath or do you clutch it in a vice like grip? Gotta ask because clearly there's something worrying your ferret. When you pick up a ferret you lift it from underneath and it will/should just hang in your hand.
You're gonna have to practise at home mate....tempt the ferret out (a pipe) and gently lift her off the ground,it's going to take time to break her of this skulking habit. If you can't do it at home you're going to have to do it while working either tempt her out with a treat or let her come out in her own
. What am i supposed to do dig up the whole of the warren?
No mate, put a collar on it before you put it in...simples
)....its unfortunate that the ferret is gone,
Good write up there REW
Used to do a similar thing when I was a kid, when I was younger than you are now. Rabbit from a wood fire is something I haven't tasted for 40 years.....
try wrapping one in cooking foil, cooks in it's own juices......tastes fantastic.
Good ol' memories and like you say better than getting high or pissed

I use an aluminium mesh board too, it's about 4 inches long .
I pull the loop down to the top edge, my thumb just covers this so I can't actually see the knot forming but I can feel it. I'm right handed so it's my left hand that keeps everything tight. I know it sounds like the same ol' thing all the time but it does take practise.Tieing nets is about developing your own style. Your knots slipping when you increase or decrease is just because they ain't tight enough...you're being too nice with it .....give it a bloody good tug

As albert64 says i have made absollutley 100s of nets in the years i have been ferreting and have never tied a single net to the end ring it makes no difference at all
Got to agree with that
Leeview's right also make sure that the loop you're tieing onto is pulled down tight to the mesh board and held down tight . Sounds like you're relaxing a little bit too soon

Don't worry too much about numbers mate, you and your ferret are on a learning curve. You did go home with a rabbit AND your ferret after all so it wasn't a complete disaster. Take you time mate, it'll happen for you, I promise
Nothing to be embaressed about .
Pick the rabbit up by it's back legs, let the ears fall forward and give it a good whack ,with a priest, where the backs of the ears join the head, that's it....game over bunny

I've had ferrets since I was a kid and that was too long ago to want to remember.
I feed mine whole carcass or pet mince, cat biscuit is always available to them, prefer whole carcass because it provides bone and fur to clean the teeth and scour the gut.
I've kept ferrets that have often lived into thier teens....so whats the adverse
long term effect of feeding complete cat food?
I'm also a founder member of a long established ferret rescue society and I've also seen the results of NO food so I believe even cheap cat food is better than nothing. Consequently I don't breed ferrets ALL mine
Cows milk is a laxative particularly in ferrets. I believe it's the lactose that causes it.I give mine goats milk it's so easy to get and not normally too expensive
In my experience the holes that look the most likely to humans are often the least occupied.
Agreed, you'd be amazed how many rabbits bolt from the unlikliest holes
