To be honest it always amazed me how Liddell was as succesful as he was for such a technically poor striker/puncher.....i believe the level of striking/boxing is very low within the sport of mma.....Liddell relied on opponents walking onto stuff and getting caught with counters,as soon as folk stopped chasing him and forced him to come forward he was only half as dangerous. Anyway not to detract from the topic and best of luck to the lad Kye. your right gnash, technically he looked very poor in there, but he had very heavy hands, more's to the point, though, his takedown defence was

Fair play , sound's like your head's in the right place which is half the battle, whats your background in ?, heavy hands like that will give ya great conifidence going into a fight like this ,,plenty of really good stand up lads at the top level in mma, look what Liddell achieved,, best of luck , kye,

If you could let the litters run on , i have not doubt, that 1/8 or as far as1/16 will carry the working gene, keeping the best dog pup on each litter , putting him back to a good bitch, its not practical nowadays but thats how they used to it , in times gone by,,

IF 145 is your fighting weight , why are you fighting at 155,,10 pounds to a grappler is alot to give away,, best of luck bud,,

Cant see how leaving him off will make one jot of difference, the only reason he'd yap is because he's not catching easy , the more work he'll get , the better he'll get and the easier he'll catch,

If its in them its in them, might only come out in tight situations , if the dog is sound otherwise, ignore it or switch your hearing aid off,,

With me now at this stage , i only keep one running dog , and my young lad 7 is mad about him,, would break my heart to have to explain to him that he wont be met by the dog when he gets in from school,,i just dont dwell on the thought ,,

i know a few lads on here, have had dogs killed in action, it seems to be completely unavoidable, my question is , has anyone changed the way they hunt, or made any changes because of it,,eg , If im lamping with a couple of lads with their own dogs, i make sure all dogs are well secured on their slips before we do anything, had a fcuk up one night years ago , with a dog on a bunny coming straight at us , a young lads dog slipped out and ran head long into the incoming dog,,night over,, any experiences most welcome,,

Can also be stress related, canine nail biting,,any changes in his envoirment,,

no bother mate I'll get ya a dig bud, north wexford, leave it with me,,

Dont be too keen to knock the lamp off when the rabbit hits the hedge , sometimes with a thick hedge and a rabbit under pressure , he'll hit the hedge just to escape the dog but it wont be he home hedge , if you get my drift, and can be just sitting inside, a young dog can think its all over at that point, but an aul timer, will be waiting just those few seconds for that sound in the hedge of the bunny making his way through ,and dive in,,had a bitch before who developed a knack for it , ,,I dont bother lamping anymore with little or no wind, found it too frustrating,, best of luck bud,,

is it the breading or the up-bringing ?

Maybe im drunker than you but i hav'nt a f*****g danny's what your on about -
The problem you might run in to with both inexperienced dogs is the retrieve, if and when you do catch let your mate hang back a bit , the dog with the bunny might not be inclined to offer up his catch with another dog in attendance until he has the idea sussed, , as far as lamping goes,, give a quick flick, if ya spot anything, knock the lamp off, leave your mate there, walk up on the ditch side of where the bunny was, flick back on , if and only if your close enough , keep the lamp on your target , tell your dog theres a rabbit there, your dog is in such a focused state of mind , he'll pick u

I cant help thinking thats the only quarry were going to be left with eventually,,everything else is seen as so f*****g cuddly,, -
A lot of lads are reluctant to get involved with youngsters on a number of fronts.. Firstly we live now in a throw away society where seemly everything is desposable including dogs, now i know some of the older lurchermen are guilty of this too but how many times have you seen in the Buy an Sell section, a dog been sold because ,"Selling dog because my mates dont go out anymore" its like a fad or a phase they,re going through , and until they can prove that they're here for the long haul , its hard to take some of them seriously, Another point seems to escape people on this site , how i dont

You need the right basic package as for as breeding goes, good working parents, but to get the most out of any dog, he must get plenty of work , have seen slow half crosses catch more out than fast racey types, on the lamp now im talking bout, just because they had been round the block afew times,,It dont fully answer your question either, because it dont take a great dog man to give a dog plenty of graft, just an eager one,, -
Good reading, but im not sure everytime he licks his balls , he's suffering from a g d,,

I think it comes down to how serious you take them shows, maybe their are people who only race and show, dont know, or maybe im just jealous because ive only owned ugly b*****ds,,

whats your biggest bag in one night
Casso replied to kevin from bristol's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Some of the best nights i've had out are nothing to do with numbers caught, but if you get into a good area with a good bunch of lads with bunnies everywhere, the craic is mighty, and the dogs just seem to preform and the numbers stack up,,thats when the banter starts bout numbers , apart from that , i would never go out to catch numbers,, -
