  2. Wont be starting till late December , due to the fact that the pup just wont be ready till then , long wait,,
  3. You have your hands full there,, one at time is the only way you,ll get the dog completely focused on you, but introduce the rag at home so she really motivated by it, before bringing her out to the field, hunting is just a further extension of play, food treats are ok at the start but the way to a lurcher's heart is, play, lurcher are so athletic they can play all day with each other, you just need to focus that,, on you,,
  4. Yeah you do need more time with her in the field , not hunting but training, training the dog in the envoirment it will be working in with all its distractions, young dogs come to a certain age when they need to work and if their not focused in on you, will appoint themselves positions such as, rabbit hunting manic ,because thats the greatest excitment in the world for them not you , The way i would train any of the whippet lurchers is through play, not food, a rag is perfect, whippets know all about them , Treat her with rag play , every time she comes to you , might take a while to motivat

  7. Fine deep chest on him , what bloods in him,,
  8. Thats a contented looking pup craig, good gut on him for a pup as well, throw a few pics up over the summer so we can keep an eye on him, best of luck,,
  9. Are you saying that all a bitch passes on is her mothering skills? The bitch and dog are equally important IMO no not saying just that that will be one thing it passes on .. but what else. if bitch and /dog equally important, like you say .. what does the bitch ..pass ..and wht does the dog pass on ? A bitch with a nervous trait will pass on that trait to some her pups, due to the fact that pups will start figuring out the world through her and her reactions to different situations, She can also be harder on them in terms of dishing out disipline, than a calmer mo
  10. Whatever bout anything else, whats she like on the lamp, does she run clever,,
  11. Its great to see them all looking different, Its shows their work bred , and not bred to type,,
  12. Handy looking for a hound, is she running clever,
  13. If she has got to that stage in her career with a happy owner, i would think shes perfect,,
  14. Thats a sharp looking black n white in the first,
  15. as long as he didn't panic the fish,, how,d ya get on
  16. You think so i binned about 200 there just lucky shots Very good, Just looking at your first picture when my boy came in and asked , Was it a picture of an alien dog ? Why was it walking on 2 legs,,great shot,,
  17. Something about his appearance, beard, long hair ,,
  18. Have you just started applying the pelt?........... if so I would recon at 7 months, he finds it novel and is simply playing. You need to take it from him, and repremand when he starts to chew, before he gets into the habbit of if...... Try putting it in a pair of tights....I used to do this with spaniels to feather....just so they slowly get used to it Dont think wearing a pair of tight would make much difference, might scare the dog in fact, but each to his own,,
  19. Thats an honest looking little fella you have there,,
  20. Thats about all ive ever given mine in the off season, plenty of protein is the key, with a good quality complete, anything else is a waste of money,,
  21. Second that, i wouldn't keep another pup in the house without a cage, gives ya a bit of time out from the pup, and easier house broken too, learns to chew only what you give him, and teachs him to be comfortable with his own company, so he wont redecorate your house every time you pop out,,
  22. Bond with your pup well, break her to ferrets, basic commands wont be a prob for ya, the dog will hunt of its own accord, enjoy your little dog, dont listen to the numbers men, and trust yourself because you'll know your dog better than anyone,,Perfect choice for what your looking for, best of luck with her ,,
  23. The dog uses HIS brains to read situations, we are also included in his reading of a particular situation, his senses are picking up things from us constantly, and through our actions he learns how to behave in any given senario, eg, never broke a bitch i had to sheep, but never had a prob with her and stock, why ,because they were of no interest to me and because of that , were of f**k all good to her either,,
  24. Lurchers are so tuned into us, thats how they know the difference between a domestic and a prey animal,
