Its the bond between yourself and the mutt for me, he can't do it on his own and neither can i, and you can see in a good dog , how much he want it, not just for himself , but for you, Cant beat that feeling , anti's dont know what their missing,

The one thing i would say about taking pups out is, management , and looking out for problems before they arise, Saw a beautiful young pup completly fecked up , because he got a couple of blasts of a electric fence, would probably have been ok if he was a couple of months older but at such an early stage , every little incident is massively reinforced in the pups mind, it got to a stage with this pup , where he wouldn't go to within 5 metres of any wire , electric or not, Its not to say that it will happen with your pup,,but any mistakes or negative happenings out , leave a lasting impressio

How long is a piece of string,,

Is it just the same dog she does it with,,? how is she with the other dog ,,have they problems,,maybe try to introduce the the dogs together when not hunting,,as already said , shes still young , with a bit more done she should settle into her trade,,
-
There's always something bout a pup taken their first,,its almost like their confirming in your own mind, what you already knew, but the pup just had to prove it to you,,great feeling ,,,best of luck with her,,
-
You wont forget it, nice little bitch that, Best of luck with her in the future,,
-
She sounds like she really fecked off with the whole thing,,i start my pups off on playing tug, it dont encourage them to play tug o war with rabbits later on either,,but it does make them very interested in you,,playing tug for the dog is like winning the lotto ,,do no training with the pup for a month, just play,, Once the pup is interest in you for play, you can teach anything from there,, Teeth are feck all to do with it,,played tug the same with every pup i had , teething or not, pups show no difference in keeness,,Just get the pup interested in you john,,the rest will follow ,,

do you put pennut butter on your balls for him I like your style,,,

I'm all right jack , because i kill my animals quicker than you,,do me a favour

If she's caught a couple, how is she lacking,,is she not keen enough,,not following the lamp ,,what,,
-
Dont know, but it might be able to keep the rabbits it catches in its pouch, save you carrying them,,
-
Does she stalk as soon as you send her, or does she run and slow down into a stalk,,did you ever try , keeping her on the slip on a squatter , giving the command but dont realise her , hold her up, for a few seconds, then when shes really pulling , run forward a couple of steps then let her off,,
-
Do you run her off a slip, do you give her a command to run,,
-
Nice pups, thought their would be more darker pups in it with the black bitch as the mother,,
-
I understand what your saying , but you dont need a particularly fast dog to do pig,,just needs bottle, on the whole i thing , there are more athletic animals in the dog world, that would suit the average hunter than the rottie,,,

pups experience the world through their mouth, think bout it they dont have hands, taste, texture, feel, they need to mouth things to get an all round idea of what it is,,management with the pup will prevent it from chewing things it shouldn't,,terriers in particular will chew every thing , sometimes out of boredom, their are chews out there that will help with the chewing problem,,she will grow out of it in the main, but getting a dog used to chewing is a great way of relieving boredom even in adult dogs,, best of luck,,

Whin i think it takes lads a few years to figure out what they want in a dog , i know i have had dog's that i found , not big enough or fast enough for what i wanted in the long run but had advantages over more fleet footed hounds , when it came to a dig , but as long as they gave 100% that was good enough for me, because its swings and roundabouts, i admit ive bred out of good stock and ended up with shite , i admire anyone for manageing to breeding to type over generations and getting just what they want out of pups for a certain type of hunting, it takes a lot of dedication and know how,,b

IM sure there's a few ladies on here, who through no fault of their own, smelling of ferrets , dogs or both, maybe have been left on the shelf or taken down and put back on , who feel they need to get down and dirty , digging , ferretting , etc, who would be looking for MR hunting right,, who would make sure everything is entered correctly, and according to the laws of the land,,
-
The only thing this site is missing is a Dating section, think bout it 2 members with the same passion ,dogs , ferrets , etc, love of the countryside, matching boots, jackets etc, meeting up for a bit of a mooch, lamping ,shooting, digging ,, "How would i know you" , " i'll be the one with the bull x ",, would be the reply from him, I'M sure it would take off, their's a few frisky fillies on here , you know who you are,,,IF only the powers that be could make it happen ,,

some of these ones are hard to figure out unless you know more of the situation, if pups have too much freedom with little or no correction they begin to believe the world revolves round them, whatever goes on between the pup and any other dog , should not effect the owner and pup relationship,,make the pup "down" before you fed him, dont leave food with him, training pups helps to ground them , if ya can tie the lead to ya for an hour ,every so often, and go about your business, by the end of it , he wont need reminding whos in charge,,there is plenty of things out there that will help,, 2 lu -
Courtship sounds like a good nite out round here,,

What about the mountain hare of the highlands, that developes a winter coat, thats got to be native, and the irish hare, no romans over here,,

at this point in time i have 1 dog , he's only a pup, having lost a 3/4 wheaton grey to a folded or twisted gut earlier this year,,the pup is lurcher x lurcher, he'll do what he'll do , as long as he does bunnies well, im not bothered bout the rest, if he takes fox, fine ,if he dont , so be it, I dont do the numbers game any more either,,When i was doing bigger stuff , terrier blood was a must, they seem to be able to push it to the limit, Used to laugh at those ads "Taking all legal quarry" because it was the other stuff , i wanted,,Times have changed , much more interested in the dog itself
-
What do you think effected the type of hunting you do,,,was it your local terrian,,your first introduction to the game,,liking to a certain quality in a breed, eg,speed , bottle, brains,, Sometimes its the ability of the dog , which opens new doors, Terrific to watch a good coursing dog , but lamping is what i prefare, but then again never owner a good hare dog,, i can see what the daytime lads love about the grace of movement of a good dog, but i just seem to be stuck in a lamping rut ,,Any replies most welcome,,
