From what i have read it will do the job and I have heard the same thing about non military calibre rifles in France, IMO you will need to check this restriction out fully as the 6.5 x55 is a military round designed for the Swedish and Norwegian armies in the 1890's, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.5×55mm

My opinion is we try to be as humane as possible, however when controlling an animal for pest purposes sometime there can be no alternative, personally like now I will try to shoot buck rabbits than milky does but at the end of the day I'm there on the farmers land to carry out a job and the same goes for foxes.

It kicks no more than any other shotgun, the good thing with a Benelli is when you pull the trigger it's more than likely to fire than just click and misfire like the hatstand. Joking apart you won't do wrong with a Benelli

For complete blind visits with no introduction, 1st thing don't make this your initial greeting "(knock knock) hello can I shoot on your land" have a bit of a conversation with the bloke tell him your just in the area you come from such and such a place you've seen a load of pigeons on a field etc etc. Ask how he's getting on... If the guy even says let me have a think about it go prepared have a bottle of whiskey/wine in your car as a gift and thank him for his time ask him if he minds you calling in a couple of weeks leave him your number and that's all you can do really. Great thread! Just to add more confusion I have a .223 and 6.5 x55 on my license for both fox and deer so I could lamp with either (obviously not deer). With a bullet weight from 85gr to 160gr the 6.5 x55 is a very versitile round and excellent deer calibre... I think there are no guarantees in shooting, a heart/lung shot and you could get a runner other times it would drop like a brick this could be said the for any of the UK deer calibres, we as hunters try to ensure death is as quick and humane as possible on any animal from a rabbit to a red stag. ATB

As above, that's what i use on my CZ Varmint , and to be honest, i can't really imagine anything being much quietier when using subsonic ammo Ditto Parker Hale on my rugar 10/22 its like an air rifle when you pull the trigger

Why was he arrested in the 1st place? Because of his skin colour.....? Or because he committed a crime, this is what makes me laugh about this type of thing only the bit that's controversial is presented, not the fact 20 mins earlier he was breaking into a house or caught stealing a car or committing another crime.

Agreed providing you have good reason to own a firearm which this is and you are a suitable person there should be no issue with obtaining a FAC One obstacle you may encounter is if the land/s passed for rf you wish to shoot on. Joining a club is irrelevant.

The Lanber is a great first time gun, so people I know bought one and still shoot it after many years I wouldnt hesitate in owning one, which is more than I can say for the Hatsan, they're cheap for a reason,if it's a semi your after by a second hand Benelli, beretta Winchester etc.
