  1. rain coming this weekend here but temp still too warm at night. gutted
  2. insa dakars all the way for me. great off road and decent manners on road. in summer i switch to hankook rf10 a/t.
  3. i have a suzuki jimny. outstanding. my only other choice would be a subaru forester. the forester is cracking off road but has more limitations on clearance and heavier on juice. the jimny does it all and has room for my 2 dogs.
  4. my young dog had sort of started to cock a deaf un whilst out with my staff. cured it easy. goes out alone now when free running. road work i take both. you have to make yourself the most interesting thing around. cut the distractions out.
  5. i'll put some up tonight after i get him out for a walk. always forget to take the bloody camera
  6. i've had lurchers for 40 years now. always a mix of beddy or deerhound. things changed recently and i came across a young collie grey. the lad had to part with it due to work and housing so i took it on. i have to say, having this dog is a pleasure. he's as bright as anything and learning new stuff daily and has made me think differently about collie cross lurchers. he's just over a year and starting well. had him out a few times on the lamp but the sh*t warm weather means we haven't been out for a week or two now. really looking forward to this season with this dog. he's gonna make a real g
  7. as said above with a hancock dog you know exactly whats in the breeding and will have a fair idea of the size it will make. there's no guarantees with a hancock dog or any other for that matter. an old mate of mine bought one of his and it made the best dog i've ever seen. rabbit, hare and fox. but the lad knew his dogs and put some real time into it. if the rearing and socialisation is an issue then don't go for a 4 month old pup thats been knocking round the kennels. get an order in and collect it at 8 weeks.
  8. cracking looking pair. tried for nearly a year to get a pup like that and no joy. good luck with em this season
  9. i'm guessing the big money pups are saluki greyhounds. i can sort of understand that to a point as they are known bloodlines of producing dogs. but lurchers fetching stupid money i dont get at all. seen loads of litters with that many breeds involved its a right lottery what the pups will even look like let alone make in terms of workers. dont help now that lurchers are fashionable at the minute either. too many people are jumping on the money band wagon. but if folk are prepared to shell out its up to them. having said that, if the new owner dont know what he's doing he aint gonna get the b
  10. yeah soon as i run out i'll be ordering with these trev. my local butcher seems to be coming up trumps at the minute though. £1 per kilo for carcasses / legs / wings and lamb bones thrown in for free.
  11. forecast to start dropping at night here in the next week but we got moon too so no go
  12. tomatoes on recommendation. a few on here do it. i started by mixing with complete but i think i'd go straight over if i did it again as digestion times of raw and complete are very different. my dog is noticeably better on raw. i'm feeding chicken carcasses. i chop em into chunks. not as the dog can't handle em just so i can bag up in the right weight. also gets fed any butchers trim i pick up.
  13. 500g chicken with bone, pasta or brown bread, any cooked veg left over and 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes as a main meal at night. lamb bones in a morning.oily fish once a week. dog weighs about 25 kg and looks good on it
  14. the weather's a bit up and down here but looks like its gonna start cooling down at night next week. bloody pup's gagging for it but not running him while its as hot as it is at the minute. he's getting well exercised and fit at the minute. got all next week off so should be able to pick a night or 2. stroll on winter.
  15. bullocks are bad news . they're curious and even if the dog is steady they can un nerve a dog. my permission is full of em and i give em a wide berth
  16. top offer lad . be a good start for a young lad.
  17. bit like that for me the other night. i still think the weather is too changeable at the minute. it'll smarten up
  18. i'm running the same tyre . dynapro atm. they're cracking on and off road. getting 35 mpg too on em.
  19. i've fed my dogs complete for years. the staff i keep in the house is still on it but i've gone over to raw with the lurcher. a bit ago when it was really hot, the staff puked a couple of times after drinking masses of water and thats what came up. swollen undigested complete food. the staffs stools are normal but it must stay like that in their gut for ages and way longer than we think.
  20. no worries. yeah i'm sure he'll get better. i did manage to pick a slip lead up off ebay and it'll do me, only 8 quid. used it last night and worked a treat . but thanks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251442151364?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  21. been out a fair few times now with this and the lurcher. makes me wonder why i ever had a bigger lamp. for the fields on my permission its perfect. 400m beam and no wires. the young dog's working well on it. not had the lazerlite out since i got this.happy days.
  22. keep an eye on it for getting infected. quick jab of antibiotics 'll sort it. lucky if mine gets knocked up , my mate down the hunt kennels always has a jab or 2 in stock.
