  4. find a sitter and walk it up in the beam. dont worry whether you think the dog's seen it . kick it up if you have to. the dog will chase. the penny will drop soon enough
  5. Robs, I know they claim it's a 400m beam but what is it really? I ask as they claim the Light Fantastic, which I had, has a 500m beam. But that's crap. Maybe someone standing 500m away looking at the guy holding the lamp would just about be able to make out a pinprick of light, but that doesn't make it a 500m beam IMO. I found that anything much past - 100 yards and I could barely make out what was going on. What would you say is the furthest distance you could easily follow a running rabbit with your plr400? i reckon i've followed rabbits out to a couple of hundred yards easily before t
  6. Anthony,.you original question was a wee bit naive,... You ask to hear the opinions from lads who have owned and used dogs, that came via David Hancock,.but,.only if they have something nice to say about their experience.. What you don't want to hear about, is folk who are less than happy, with their purchases,.. In my experience,.it is best to listen to everyone's opinions,...good or bad,..then, perhaps do as many have already done,..go to Birmingham and buy a new pup,.or correspondingly,..walk on by.... No offence intended,. and obviously,.all the best for the future, ...kind r
  7. not sure i'd want to breed thickness into a greyhound cross gaz do you think a greyhound is more intelligent than a saluki then ? just humour.
  8. a greyhound is generally a sprint dog. the collie is bred to work all day so you get a mix of those qualities. added to that, a collie bred lurcher will generally run "smarter" whereas the grey will try to run its prey down with pure speed.
  9. only meant that a sighthound is as it says on the box, runs by pure sight and a lurcher breeding introduces other elements to the mix. don't know the first thing about salukis other than they're a sighthound with great stamina.
  10. not sure i'd want to breed thickness into a greyhound cross gaz
  11. a greyhound like a saluki is a sight hound. lurchers are bred as gaz said above to introduce other qualities to a dog that the greyhound or saluki does not have. brains for me being the most important.
