  1. just bought some of the trousers. top stuff. out tonight in rain. bone dry n not sweaty either. no wonder the forces get these.
  2. hope all's well mate . bad job at the start of the season but sure it'll heal up quick
  3. nipped out for an hour earlier with the dog and the lamp. the farmers are really making hay while the sun shines ( or not ) at the minute.the grass is well up and they'll definitely get another cut and the rain is stopping them getting the corn cut. guess i'm gonna have to be patient.
  4. went out tonight about 10 and really made a bad decision. looked great about 8 with a strong wind, light rain and it felt cold. got on the permission and it felt warm and the rain and wind had eased off. 2 early slips and the rabbits were away . 3rd slip the dog really made up for it and had 1. last slip the rabbit really worked the dog and i thought it would make it through the galvanised field gate. it didn't quite and buck nipped it back from the other side of the gate. think he's getting a bit hard mouthed. they were both alive when retrieved but they were both squealing, or maybe he jus
  5. i had a bed x whippet that i used to take out regularly with the gun. no matter how much i tried he showed no interest in ducks. that was until he escaped from his run one day and killed all mine.
  6. cracking bag and a real good un doing it at that size.
  7. on recommendation, i'm feeding with 1/2 tin of tomatoes too. also any cooked veg after our meals getting fed too. along with oily fish once a week.
  8. nothing here and a real healthy population. best for a good few years. but the rain will be here with a vengence soon so we'll see.
  9. i'm on the 4th day of feeding whole raw diet to the lurcher after feeding raw and complete previously. stools greatly reduced and firmer, the dog has masses more energy and go. looking good.
  10. does anyone know of a supplier that will deliver to the south west area ? cheers
  11. yeah i have bullocks out on some fields on my permission. i always check with the farmer where the stock is and i give those fields a wide berth. one of the farmers even rings me when they move stock around.
  12. its an easy job to cure the difference in level when the rear seats are folded down. 1/2" ply 900mmx300mm spaced up on suitable sized timber bearers. i think mine are 3x2's. it can even stay in when the seats are up and being used. a 10 minute / few quid fix.
  13. he never even saw a rabbit till 11 months. i've been shooting through the spring and summer so just exercised and trained. i waited until he started to look as though he'd catch before entering him . 1st run out he had a couple of slips on the lamp but no luck. 2nd and 3rd time out he scored. getting the hang of it real quick. as said in another post, the dog will let you know when he's ready. good luck
  14. the ground's nice and soft here. only thing holding me back is the cloud cover and temperature. both seem really up and down but given the right night i'm out
  15. i've had a 1999 jimny for 2 years and i love it. gets anywhere that landrovers do and places they can't as its narrower. with the back seats folded and a board made up to account for the difference in height theres room enough for anything. for the money there's nothing to touch them.
  16. looking good here. dog's in good shape and plenty of quarry around.
  17. my dogs have been fed the field and trial maintenence and working 23 over the years and seemed to do well apart from my current dog who didn't seem to be thriving on it so i'm now feeding raw alongside complete but looking to going wholly over to raw when i get my supplies sorted.
  18. as the season is starting and the dog is now catching i'm considering adding rabbit to his diet. how much rabbit a week would you feed and what parts ? he always gets the heart, liver and lungs anyway when i clean them . i'm looking to feeding as much raw as i can. cheers rob
  19. hey paulus, if i could get the right gear locally i reckon i would go over to just raw. what do your dogs get ? my worry apart from maybe not being able to source everything , is getting the mix of grub right. cheer rob
  20. my guess some mix of deerhound x collie x greyhound. by the looks i wouldn't say bull. anywhere 24 - 26" sizewize. gonna be a year old give or take till you know how big it will be . looks a nice pup. all the best rob
  21. bit off topic this,but.. i've always had a staffy as a house dog for about 20 years or so now. had a big old bugger pts at 16 about a year ago. he was that biddable he would spit out/ drop anything on command. always walked him with mine and a mates lurchers and he was that good i never had him on a lead or collared. any way at the time the dog was about 6 and in his prime , at a mates one day with the dog and i had to leave as i had to go out. going out the front door i noticed there was some bloke with a big bouncy newfoundland on a lead talking to a bloke at his front gate a couple of doors
  22. i have the plr400 from clulite. top lamp. no wires or external battery and cracking range. use this more than anything for a quick trip out. beam is quite narrow but great for bunnies.easy to shove in a pocket too as its real small
  23. as long as you have permission thats it. the landowner has no obligation to disclose anyone on their land. if there is hassle on the land i'd steer away .
