upload to photobucket, click on the picture then on the right hand side , left click on the img option . that copies the pic and just paste it on here. you may have to resize the pics on your phone or camera though as they may be too big to post on here

fair bit of cloud and a late moon tonight so i thought i'd whip out for an hour just after 10. 2 half grown easy rabbits for the dog. 1st brought back straight to hand, the second was a squealer and he took a minute to bring it back but again fetched back to hand.

there used to be a place at rotherham where i used to buy mince and green tripe for the dogs near the retail park. not sure whether its still there. all they sold was pet food.

the dog's really coming on now, muscling up well and looking generally spot on. still feeding the dry but with chicken or other raw included. plenty of marrow bones too. he's getting lots of exercise to go with it. -

i had something like this about 20 years ago. worked fine but a bugger to get back on the dog when your hands are freezing cold. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Greyhound-Lurcher-Whippet-coursing-toggle-quick-release-collar-lead-/161389211934?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item25938bf11e as mentioned above they may cause hassle with the law if you get pulled. all i use now is a flat 1/2" nylon lead with the clip cut off and the end burnt to stop it fraying. does mean using a collar though

Best Complete Dry Food ?

starting to get some results now ! still feeding the skinners working 23 but managed to get a bag of chicken carcasses from the local butcher. now feeding a slightly smaller amount of dry food and adding a chicken carcass . even after 4 days i can see the difference. his coat's starting to shine, he has way more energy and he's starting to look right. his stools have also firmed right up. well pleased. i am looking into feeding barf but need to make sure i can do it right before i do. thanks for all the replies. rob -
he got the idea real quick. bit of a hiss and his head's up and looking down the beam. its just a case of him wising up on the bunnies. think he's gonna be a good un. recall is spot on, retrieves to hand and jumps so the basics are there. gets out plenty so well up on his feet too.

i'm a big fan of cluson gear so out of the 2 i would go for the shootalite. if its a hand held one you want though i'd go for a lazerlite by cluson. light weight , small diameter and has a work light / secondary bulb too. spares backup and customer service from cluson is spot on. and no i don't have anything to do with them other than using their gear. atb rob

Best Complete Dry Food ?

hi i tried to send you a pm , not sure whether you have got it. my reason for feeding complete is long working hours and not much storage space. could you give me an example of a balanced raw diet . one of my worries would also be whether the dog got all the necessary vitamins out of it. and it would need to be manageable on my part . we are also in a pretty isolated spot so accessibility could be a problem. regards rob -
Best Complete Dry Food ?

Exactly the reason why natural feeding is best. People think that raw meat is very high in protein, but as it contains a large percentage of water, it is actually lower in protein gram for gram than those super-high-powered dry foods with levels of over 30% protein: that food is measured as dry matter as there is very little water content. The only time a dog may need such high protein dry foods is if it is performing at very strenuous and stressful competition levels such as the sled dogs in races like the Iditarod. Feeding a raw balanced diet takes all the guess work out of what protein -
the dog's a year old now and the temperature has dropped nicely over the last couple of days with the rain so i whipped out for an hour or so last night with the lamp. it was very overcast with a bit of breeze and looked good. the ground was nice and soft. plenty of rabbits about but near the hedges so i picked my slips. he had 3 runs all pretty short, turned the rabbits away from the hedge but narrowly missed all 3. last one walking back to the car was a squatter. he saw it in the beam as we walked it up, got about 20 feet away then another got up to the left and headed for the hedge. he wa

thanks for all the replies lads. i will stick with the skinners working 23 for the minute as a base food. i am feeding oily fish at least twice a week with a handful of rice and the dog is starting to put some weight on. i'll add some raw meat when he starts working. -
had a walk across my permission tuesday just before dark. looking good and plenty of rabbits around. the field's still full of round bales at the minute with a fair bit still yet to cut. stroll on september

forgot to mention , he gets about 2 tins of sardines in oil a week too -
i don't want to get into any discussions about whether dry food or BARF diets are best as i dont have the facility to feed barf and i need to feed complete dry food. but i would like to know what dry food you are using. i have a 3/4 grey / collie that don't seem to put much weight on. he's only a year old. he gets out twice a day walking and running free and i won't be working him till september. i'm feeding skinners field and trial working 23 and wondering whether its just a little too rich for him in the summer. any thoughts ?? thanks

i had a greyhound whippet that only made about 24 out of sam the man, a waterloo cup winner. hares were no problem for that dog.

hope this one will fill the pot. just a year old, had 2 rabbits on the lamp but just waiting for some nice cold weather. verything showing just right. retrieves to hand, recall spot on and he jumps. and no its not a hancock dog. 3/4 grey 1/4 collie.

got to agree with above comments. what the pup's displaying is just immaturity. it should have little to do with how the dog will work. a mate of mine had a big heavy set bull cross dog last year and the dog looked the business. he tried to enter it at 10 months, the dog didn't want to know. he passed it on. a year later the dogs a cracker and he's regretting it.

i have a cluson lazerlite but have just bought one of these http://clulite.cluson.co.uk/led-torches/578-plr-400-pistol-light-rechargeable.html its an amazing bit of kit for the money and should be spot on for rabbiting. weighs nothing and a good beam
