used to lamp with a mate who ran a cracking 3/4 bred from hancock. smart bitch. rhf no trouble . at that time we were out a few times a week and this was the most consistent dog i've ever seen. he put plenty of time into her and was well rewarded.

dogs can thrive on almost anything . 20 years ago i was feeding beta field when some of my mates were feeding shite that you knocked up with hot water and when cooled had the consistency of concrete

can't see any reason a rough coated pup couldn't be thrown from a smooth coated 1/2 bred sire and dam if either have a rough coated breed in their breeding

ferk was it warm.too warm. boiled in the goretex. lots out but all hit the hedges as soon as the lamp was on. had 2 out of 2 slips both good 40 yard slips. lots of fields are starting to open up. they're getting ready to bring the bullocks in buck's tucking into his snap and i've just cracked a beer. happy days

steady wind between 20 and 25 mph here kev
-
yeah you still have to try though kev. i'm looking at the best conditions i've seen since the back of august so i have to give it a crack tonight. buck knows we're off out and he's doing my nut in
-
buck aint gonna get too hot with the squall we have down here tonight Davie. i agree its warm but i wouldn't want to stand still in it for long. we'll see eh ?
-
take the pup. good chance of a sitter with the wind and rain
-
cloudy as you like, blowing a right hoollie and raining. set in for the night too. looking forward to a proper session tonight
-
takes a big bloke to admit he can't manage so full credit for that. you've done well to get the pup back into good health. stick an ad in the classifieds on here . be handy to state a bit about the breeding and background if you know it. sure there'll be some takers. good luck

Putting Weight On A Dog Fast ?
Dewclaw69 replied to flynndog's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
up to a few months ago i had always fed dry grub and had never had an issue. my new dog just wouldn't put any weight on with the dry. changed to raw and the dog instantly started packing weight and muscle on. way easier than i thought it would be. the tog is in top condition now -
i feed approx 500g of carcases or chicken pieces per day . i also feed raw meaty bones in a morning. he also gets tinned sardines once or twice a week also heart liver and kidneys of all rabbits. i also feed granary bread or pasta ( 2 slices / 100g cooked ) , 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes and other veggies. i keep the bread or pasta constant and dependent on how he's looking i change the meat content or type. if he's looking lean he gets meat with more fat content if heavy less fat. works for me and the dog's looking good on it.

just ordered one of these yesterday less than £3 delivered from evil bay

aye he's coming on a treat Davie. bloody merle colouring never seems to show his condition though

15 month old 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie. making good progress. catching every time out. couldn't be happier

think you might struggle matey. i think the only lift kits are from australia. thats all i could find when i had mine. you need to get on the subaru forester forum in the european section . best info on there. you can fit slightly bigger tyres but again you have to watch it as the rear suspension turrets can foul. atb rob regardless of the height issue the forester is probably as good off road as anything out there. i used to regularly follow fourtraks and defenders and never grounded out. the only damage i ever did to mine was a holed back box due to loose rocks on a real steep incline throu

the landowners of my permissions have asked me to stay out of the fields with the bullocks so i have to respect that. it'll all be good soon as they'll be taking em inside then my season really starts
-
nice one for sticking it out with the moon. on my permissions there are only a few fields without bullocks in at the minute. the minute you step into a fiied with the moon up and flick the lamp on you can see em all heading for the hedges.
-
been really bad here with lack of cloud and wind but it looked half possible earlier. bit of cloud hanging round but not for long so we nipped out just after 8. buck had 2 in a stubble field and 1 on a grass field before the moon popped up from behind the clouds. short trip but another 3 in the bag for him. he's coming on well and should be well in the swing when the weather settles down.

you're right mate i wouldn't but neither would i be as cocky. a 25 mile drive to pick a lamp up and frequent flat tyres on the motor soon wears a bit thin. but as you say i'm a bit older and wiser and there's more than one way of skinning a cat as they say. back then i could easily chat myself in to more shite than i was originally in. not now mate .
