  1. I do agree with that to an extent but I also think something like the fishing i mentioned above will also often include some kids with parents that are on the fence a bit and that just dont want their kids to miss out on something that everyone else is doing. And once half the class are raving about how much of a good day the fishing was it has an effect on the rest of the class, every little helps... Some schools do small trips to farms etc (I can remember my primary school doing this as well as nature walks), perhaps similar could be done on sporting estates with demonstrations of gu
  2. A friend of mine took his son beating a good few years ago now and when his lad went into school telling them what he had done at the weekend my mate got called in to see the head and was told that it's not really acceptable to be taking his child out to participate in such things! Where the feck do you start when faced with a wall like that? Like has been said, any form of optional education will only be attended by those that are on board anyway. It's a loosing battle.
  3. It wasn't aimed at you no. There's always plenty of bullshit spouted when talking about fox cartridges, this threads no different. Interesting cartridges all the same.
  4. I'd love to see the tape measures some of you are using! I'm sure some of you are confusing yards and feet.....
  5. Not expecting to see much of anything with all this rain! I saw a melanistic hen with only 2 chicks with her about a week ago. After last Fridays torrential downpour I should imagine they are both dead. Will it be a bumper year for foxes? I read somewhere recently that good spring rainfall has been proven to lead to higher survival rates in cubs.....
  6. A bull cross thread that turned into a dick measuring contest! .......... Who would have guessed? LOL
  7. I prefer the program to American Hoggers, too much brother-sister bollocks with that one. The blonde one didn't half fecking flap when she loosed her new catch dog for the first time, f**k me. When Gary brought his 11 yr old catch dog, Poacher, out of retirement the other night ya just knew that it was gonna end badly! I'm not sure how much they over exagerate the weights on there but at least once they have said "Woooow thats a good 200 pounder!" and then minutes later toss in over their shoulders!!! I dunno but I doubt many men can single handedly carry a 200lb live hog? All that sai
  8. Smart little pup. I think the name is great for a terrier.
  9. They're the knuckle draggers I was refering to fella. A good dog man gives his pups every chance at success and understands what is needed, when and in what quantity BUT still keeps his standards high and not let sentiment leave him blind to reality.
  10. It doesn't really matter what I was like at school. All I'm saying is if someone wants the best dogs then their standards and expectations have to be as high as what is achievable and sustainable. That will obviously be at the expense of dogs that are just average. It's a sickening fact, they can't all be champions. Having unrealistic/impossible expectations is stupid. If that is what you mean then I agree with you. But what is unrealistic???
  11. I wouldn't knock high standards! There are plenty of knuckle draggers but folks with high standards and little tollerance for anything short often have very decent dogs. A lot of dogs are let down by a lack of effort from their owner though, that I agree with.
  12. Millet will be along shortly.......
  13. Wow, the statue looks fecking excellent. They may have had to wait 70 years but the memorial is quality. Malt, that's a funny quote.......... the Germans envious of British engineering! LOL. A different time I suppose.
  14. I'll have to give that a spin next time my terrier is in season. She drops in once every six months and every time is at least 3 months untill she looks anywhere near fit! She goes from being 18lb to about 14-15lb, it can't be healthy to be gaining and loosing so much weight!
  15. Yep, fecking mental it was here 30 mins ago. Went really dark, like 10 at night and then hammered it down with odd bit of thunder.
  16. I think stabs means there are a few different usernames all from the same IP. Some devious fuckers about. Speaker as an outsider on all this, it's blantantly obvious who are the spineless cowards and who are the genuine ones.
  17. Who killed Kennedy? Did we really land on the moon? Is the world gonna end on 21/12/12? Do I give a shit?
  18. Ditchys threads were fascinating and sometimes disturbing. Made for very good reading even if he was hopeless at trapping mink! The terrier and lurcher sections aren't what they used to be 5-6 years ago. A lot of good lads just slipped off...... usually leaving the gate open long enough for 10 gob shites to fill their place.
  19. That's an interesting read Penny. Curious that our ancestors domesticated dogs but their Neanderthal cousins didn't. You would think that seeing the advantages they would have?
  20. hi,any chance i can put the pic up on my forces page please, missed this one as chesterfield had the armed forces day flag raising today. Not a problem mate. Just wish I had managed a better picture.
  21. They got plenty of support in Nottingham today! I'm sure Derby will give em as good tomorrow. A few Forces charities about the shopping centers as well. Wish I had actually known before hand, pure luck I stumbled across the parade at the right time.
  22. HAHA nice pic paulus..... Feck sake. Which one are you? The fella grasping or the fella being grasped? LOL
  23. No mate. Just dead chuffed I bumped into them. It sounds daft but I'm always very envious of them. They marched all the way to the castle where a few of them recieved medals.
  24. Was in Nottingham town center today and bumped into the Mercian Regiment marching through the center to the castle. 300 of our lads led by full marching band and followed by marching rifles. My pics shite but there was loads of support there for them and they all looked proud as feck! Just back from 6 months in Afghanistan. Marching in Derby tomorrow.
