Amazon's AI recruitment tool decided men were better employees!
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in General Talk
For now perhaps, but soon enough there will be AI that can perfectly replicate human communication. Feed it enough examples and it'll figure it out. That's if human communication is even considered necessary by then. I think consultancy will be entirely replaced by AI and the only consultants left will be the programmers/operators. -
https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-amazon-com-jobs-automation-insight/amazon-scraps-secret-ai-recruiting-tool-that-showed-bias-against-women-idUKKCN1MK08K Though it is true that AI will 'learn' the biases that are part of it's training I think this is piss funny because I genuinely think there is going to be serious issues in the future where the post modernist etc Left have to face up to the fact that we just ain't all equal! Some people are just more likely to be better at some stuff than others. On the topic, it's another example of how AI techniques are goin

Don't exist but personally I rate Reuters.

Yep, but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is a shift, it seems, towards alternate press/news sources. We're all adapting to this new world of communication tech. This is where maintaining press freedom is so important because the establishment will and are trying to maintain their grip.
-
That's more a case of press equality than press freedom though. No? I mean, I agree that we don't have a truly free press, D-notices or libel laws wouldn't exist if we did. But we must stay vigilant. Unfortunately the MO of the press seems to have changed. They're entertainers now more than truth hunters and as a result people are becoming complacent with the importance of freedom of the press.
-
I'd have stopped there. It's not a free press if there's an authority examining what is 'the truth'. Though lies may be prevalent within a free society, the truth will never be absent.

Met police chief locked himself inside car while officer was stabbed
Born Hunter replied to Lid's topic in General Talk
Let's not forget as well that being uniformed he would have become the immediate and primary target as soon as he entered matie's line of sight. Stepping out of that car out 'gunned' would have been close to suicidal. I'm not gonna judge the fella. I'd rather have my own means of self defence than all the plod in the country but thats another thread. -
Whats your approach to Poachers
Born Hunter replied to Habtron's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Some folks invest a lot into the land they have the sporting rights to. Some folks aren't for settling and prefer the travellers lifestyle when it comes to their sport. I don't think there is any reconciling this. Plenty of shit is illegal, I don't think that makes anything right or wrong, the law is just another tool for combating what someone feels IS wrong. Sometimes that is hypocritical and sometimes it's not. For folks that have invested a lot in a legit piece of land then phoning the police makes infinite sense, unless we're going to argue that protecting your shit ain't right at al -
And that has always been the bottom line. We can (and have) debate all day long over the financial, social, political etc impact of Brexit/membership but the bottom line is I don't like where it's all going. It just stinks of shit. It's difficult to argue against a general bad smell without being able to show people the actual shit but it's there and often comes out of that man's mouth. The less politicians we have the better. Genuinely, I really think full anarchy might not be that bad, considering. f**k em, let the whole house burn down. I'm sick of their (UK establishment as well)

Not me mate. Isolated blood line since the celts came over. We don't like foreigners.
-
No, though when one crops up we have to cull and then find an out cross.
-
"Black Irish" mate for example. We're not common but we're not necessarily exotic either, as most people seem to think. I had a splash of Mediterranean but like 90% scandi/west euro/celt so im not sure i can claim these traits are from the med etc.

I'm sure there are errors, max. Can't be 100% sure but what I saw was very believable and the DNA seemed to agree considering this areas history.

Men’s pants in trees , what does it mean ?

Kids giving each other wedgies. -
How scared would you be if you opened up THL one time and read you’re own RIP thread by Socks?

That's why we need the big guns mate. "A well regulated militia....."

'Well being growth'......... with a hard upper limit of 10. This is what happens when an economist is asked to do 'feelings'. I'm smelling bullshit and an agenda here....
-
I think this sort of stuff is because of a lack of mentors in modern society. Elders who instil morals in youngsters and teach them acceptable ways of directing their energy and base urges. It's disgraceful behaviour. Imagine if you was watching the same happen to your dog...

Are the natural tunnels you're putting the Fenns in tight to the top of the closed trap? It might be throwing the squirrel up on firing. Some simple ply or weldmesh tunnels might be better for you... Seems like you're getting to grips with the snaring though.

It's a good point and you weigh up a persons value to you on many fronts. The moment someone started getting high and mighty publicly though (on whatever scale) about something that is so personal to me, they're either confronted in debate or just gone. Plenty of celebs would be against what I do, I take exception when they become vocal/activists about it. I dare say the majority of people I know would be pretty turned off/upset or even maybe disgusted with at least some aspect of my hunting life. If that drives them to become political or and 'activist' then there's really no room for a

Two states that look amazing places. Similarly Colorado, Montana & Wyoming.

Totally agree with katchum, the fella is privileged and plenty of not so privileged would jump at the same opportunities. But likewise plenty of privileged folks that don't so fair play to him for getting through some of the shit he has done, its admirable. However, as a passionate hunter he is still on my 'can go eat a bag of dicks' list now.

Yeah, doubt the Shags would be any better than a hardy hill collie, just interesting all these regional pastoral/herding types.
-
Kelpies and ACDs often get spoken about together but what about their regional cousin the NZ Huntaway, have these ever found their way into lurcher breeding? Too vocal perhaps? But solid looking animals. Another breed/type I found out about recently is the Idaho Shag. Again a pastoral type but one that is gritty as f**k. There's a chap that uses them as decoy dogs on coyotes and they will finish a wounded yote which is no trivial task. Don't look stupid hard, quite clever with taking a throat hold.
