  1. Everybody in that video, bar the pedestrian, should be rendered down into soap. f***ing degenerates.
  2. It is a travesty but I suppose that's what happens when we are a tiny minority who largely don't give a shit. If I lost my right to hunt/shoot/be outdoors, it'd be like a f***ing earthquake hit my life. It'd be far worse than losing my house and job. For many people, it isn't like that, they play golf or whatever, have a nice family life, shooting is just a hobby. I would 100% be the subject of an aggressive BASC legal action, supported by the shooting community. But why should I go it alone when 99% wont give a shit. That's how tyranny works though, right. They allow you to keep just eno
  3. I just don't think any single organisation has the clout to demand anything. Something I have pondered on recently is the creation of a Fieldsports and Countryside Council formed with the sole mandate of dealing with all of these political matters. There is too much dissent amongst 'us' to expect everyone to join a single org' and not to mention the power that would give that org' and therefore the ensuing corruption and lack of accountability. By maintaining a free number of independent bodies we as individuals have the freedom to support whichever one we feel best represents us. But that is
  4. Mate, that's because the shooting community have no power, lol. All we can do is ask nicely. It's a sad state of affairs but what are 'we' supposed to do when we have little clout? The only reason I'm a member of BASC is because I want to put my money somewhere and they're the biggest player in the game. Someone else comes along who has more clout then I'll move gladly. My only concern is politics but I think we have to be realistic. Pay the 40 quid and grumble or lose ya license and gamble thousands..... I'm happy to be the test case, but I ain't paying for it and I need a bit more gu
  5. No, up until this if your licensing authority did not receive the info requested from your GP then they assumed no reason to not issue/renew. Now however some forces have made it policy that if they do not receive the requested info from your GP they will not issue/renew your certificate. Before, if your GP charged you, you could simply refuse to pay and everything would move forward. Now you would have to pay or lose your guns. I think realistically if 'we' fight this it will simply escalate from a bureaucratic matter to a political one. Simply because having GP info is reasonable g
  6. I feel dirty just reading this thread. I had no idea what it or she was about and now I do.
  7. Notts has a history of making it up as they go along! My FAC renewal is in 2019 and I'll be putting a bit of weight on BASC over this. Trouble is it's hard to contend with the standard "if it saves one child's life..." bollocks. Notts currently seem to have a violent crime epidemic which makes the sceptic in me ponder.
  8. Anybody done ancient sites, like the great pyramids, Aztec and Inca, Petra, Abu Simbel, Easter Island etc etc? Not quite inline with the OP theme of 'outdoors', sorry CJ.
  9. Man I need to watch that again. Along with Swordfish and The Siege. Generations following the current ones will watch these old films and not understand them at all. They won't understand the central themes as they'll just be accepted norms by then. They are now really but we all have a bit of a moan and do nothing.

  11. Slow roasted hot smoked delicious brisket is what is served to the gods in the great hall Valhalla... Meatloaf is what you get in prison...
  12. I'm not too interested in judging other folks. I think hunting is a personal thing and different folks get different value from different methods. Me personally, I'd get little out of that as a sportsman. All it's really testing is marksmanship and a very limited amount of quarry sense. When I'm on the ground with my quarry, field-craft and quarry sense are far more important factors and I get far more satisfaction out of using those than marksmanship. Fair chase ethics are subjective and debatable by their nature, so again, it's a personal thing, but I wouldn't feel like I'm adhering to
  13. I went to The Game Fair in July and thought it was now one of the better fairs. Much improved on the CLA. Decent size and WAY less tat stands. Last time I went to the Midland I was not impressed personally, just a small version of the CLA.
  14. Nah, not really. Lol. Beats work I suppose. I'd rather shoot one animal spot and stalk than everything on the ranch from the sky. Just not cricket.
  15. The museum and memorial are so much more meaningful and impactful being at ground zero too I found. Standing amongst skyscrapers helps a bit to put it in perspective.
  16. Without even interrogating that stuff properly I can point out one mistruth you claim immediately. WT7 was damaged, badly! Pictures even posted on this thread iirc. In my experience all of it has reasonable explanations when you start digging.
  17. Its being sorted mate and will be a hell of an experience. Has to be 2019 because I don't have enough holiday left this year. So much more I want to do, but real life constraints get in the way. It's funny, 2 to 3 yrs ago I had no urge to do this stuff.
  18. Up to 7 days actually in the mountains, probably as part of a 3 week trip, including duck shooting and pig dogging. Budget is under 3k and I'll be using rifle. Maybe bow in the future but it's not like I'm a die hard bowhunter so I don't think I'll lose any fulfilment using a rifle. None of this could have happened for me realistically without very kindly being put in touch with a keen local. You can get a return flight for under 700 these days which is mad really and for those who are very confident NZ is very accommodating for self guiding. I'm not self guiding but sort of see that
  19. I believe psychology is now suggesting that what we believe are totally free choices are in fact strongly predetermined and predictable based on our behavioural patterns. AI will take in behavioural data and make behavioural predictions that before would have been virtually impossible for a human to do due to the complexity of human behaviour. Advances will mean more data can go in and more accurate prediction will be made. That information is valuable as it is powerful. The more connected to technology and the digital world we, as society, become the more we facilitate that. Opting out i
  20. It is f***ing terrifying where big data is taking us! Artificial intelligence techniques are mainstream in industry now and as they advance will make processing HUGE amounts of data easy and frankly 'weaponised'. The implications and questions on the concept of freedom are scary.
  21. I believe you but it's not common practice at all. The issue of the dropping value of the harvested birds is being talked about before it becomes common practice, not because it is. Most ferrets won't have had a good day unless they come away with a few. Same for all. It's hardly unique to Guns. You're unfairly oversimplifying the reason that motivates Guns to go shooting. Legally no they're not trespassers.
  22. Listen to Jordan Peterson.
  23. Ah yes the well known feckwit test under the countryman subcategory; Can you tell the difference between a thrush and a redwing? (Minimum grade B for just not eating the crayon provided)
