  1. Have you (or can you) hunt wolves, biriuck? Educational thread, cheers.
  2. Aye, I think he was in BC. Big cats there. They reckon they're bloody good to eat as well. Much like pork apparently.
  3. Looking forward to it mate. Be such a cool experience and hard won from what I've seen. The coup de gras might look easy to the layman but getting there is earnt and a unique education of natural history from what I have heard. Donnie Vincent who portrays the depth and meaning of hunting extremely intimately recently went on a lion hunt, while holding what he admits to being an unfairly negative view of it, and it totally changed his view/opinion.
  4. I don't mean to sound super clever, lol. It's all that shit I feel like I need to get away from, that's my comfort zone and it's f***ing killing me. I'm pretty sure it will. I was put in touch with the chap from a respectable member of this site and is a proper kiwi hunter (we follow each other on insta/FB). Seems sound and I'd much rather that than a pro guide. The fella stands to gain out of it too of course. The money is already put aside. Just needs to happen now.
  5. Feel like I'm ticking over in every respect, I need to challenge myself before I f***ing give up to this mundane toxic f***ing modern life. So I'm meeting a total stranger who's going to take me into the mountains for an armed ramble on the other side of the planet.......... for a start to fixing that, can't wait. ......and what about your lion hunt in Canada?
  6. Not finalised. Provisionally set for next May. Given that it's with a local fella I don't want to shell out any money too soon for it to fall through, lol. I'm 100% up for it still and him and his mate will be getting a free hunting trip as I'm covering the expenses and a bit on top effectively. I think he has to wait to hear back what block he gets before things can be firmed up. But yeah, helo into the block for 5-7 days. Then couple days on ducks and couple more on pigs. It'll be the trip of a lifetime for me and couldn't come at a better time. Sounds daft but I need this.
  7. A H&H double rifle chambered in .700 nitro express with 1000gr soft points would be hard to leave at home I must admit. Be a bloody shame really. LOL
  8. I've heard experienced backcountry hunters on social media say they'd rather have spray than a gun. I guess everyone is different though.
  9. iPhone pics no filtering but still never do what I see justice really.
  10. They are good mate. Have you tried it on sunsets/rises? Cameras never seem to be able to capture what the eye sees.
  11. I'd genuinely love the opportunity to challenge these people directly, face to face. I kinda want to get a T-shirt that says "I hunt and it's fun" for when I'm in town to provoke it. LOL
  12. Maybe for evidence to prove he acted legally. The Fish and Game guys don't f**k about with a slap on the wrist over wildlife crime.
  13. I think there should be far more photos of the hunt and everything that is before and after it and far less of dead stuff. It totally misrepresents 'trophy' hunting, whatever the f**k that is. I'd credit Rachel Carrie for being a brilliant blonde barbie type ambassador for shooting. I'm not a massive fan of hers but credit for promoting what we do and trying to convey the truth behind it.
  14. Ooo ooo I got that one! PS I need a nerd emoji.
  15. Went to see Venom the other night. Loved the character but the plot was predictable.
  16. I've had nice custom forged knives.......... They look nice and professional like. ....but they do f**k all that one of these can't at a fraction of the price. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/mora-748-sheath-knife-314717.html The 5.8" stainless blade is perfect for large game and keeps an edge that would unpeal a f***ing crocodile's hide. Smaller ones are bob on for small game.
  17. Well of course but we generally operate under the principle that if you can't provide evidence for an accusation, then it's without credibility. The burden of proof should never be on the accused. Pretending that scientists have done any of this for any political reason is totally without evidence. Like you Max, I'm not a fan of such examples of biological warfare. But equally neither of us were farmers back when rabbits were at their most problematic.
  18. I dunno what the definition of 'organised criminal gangs' is but if you're meaning just 4x4s driving fields tipping dogs out on hares then come to lincs and look at any field. Last season I saw three different lots of lads out driving fields in the same day on the same land. Loads of others through the season and shit loads of fields with the characteristic 4x4 tramlines around the circumference. It happens shit loads but it's impact on hare conservation nationally is most likely negligible which I'd agree is propaganda.
  19. Where do any virus's come from initially, they just evolve. It was first documented in imported laboratory rabbits in Uruguay. It's lethality was recognised as being useful for rabbit control and was then simply artificially released. I haven't seen any literature that shows it having been modified or created to enhance it's effect. If it has jumped the species barrier, it's not surprising. Hopefully we can mitigate the impact. But given that myxi spread so fast due to the burrowing nature of rabbits, it may have a harder time spreading through hares that have much less contact with each
  20. Myxi wasn't created by scientists.
  21. Not sure mate. I don't know much about it at all.
  22. If it's not then they are just supporting the black market and continuation of what we have now.
  23. I was playing with a friends yesterday and the pictures are impressive but I sort wondered if they looked too 'processed'. Maybe I haven't played around with it enough but I suspected much of what looked different was down to default image processing. What are they like at landscapes? When someone brings out a camera that can perfectly capture what I can see with the mk1 eyeball I'll buy it, whatever it is. LOL
  24. No, no one cares enough about hare coursing to fund a covert virology team. LOL Virus's mutate and cross species naturally.
  25. Just walk away, you ain't gonna win this one. Life's too short.
