  1. If i was you, id look on guntrader and try and get a rough price for what the gun is worth second hand. Then advertise it in the guns for sale section with a price and see if anyone is interested.
  2. I fail to see what a ban on air guns will achieve. How many people steal an air rifle and rob a bank with it? Or murder someone with an air gun? Frankly i think there are better things to ban. Sure, if they want to regulate them then fair enough, maybe have a license for them. But are air guns such a danger?!
  3. I havent got the extrema 2, but have the al391 and its awesome. Only does 3inch max, but will do everything from 21g upwards. Never had any problems. I put thousands of cartridges though it every year and only clean it once a year. Its held its value better than anything i own. Awesome gun.
  4. Id agree with the above. Always checkout the trade in value and whether its worth keeping the gun. I part-ex`d a gun last year for another one. Fair enough, i got more than i paid for the gun, but looking back now, i wish id kept it, as it would have been ideal for when I take mates shooting and the gun did have some sentimental value to me also.
  5. As above, if its not broken, dont fix it. My dad has an ancient diana air rifle he has had since he was a kid. Hes never ever serviced it and he still uses it all the time to shoot around his property. I helped him zero it in a few weeks back and it was still shooting spot on. Mind you, i couldnt hit a barn door with it as im used to my s410, but he was a dead shot with it being more used to it than i am.
  6. What a shot! Dont you love it when that happens! Unfortunately I zero my gun in my back garden and the chances of me ever seeing a bunny in there are next to zero! Still, ive had it before tho when in the field, im shooting at targets and next min bunny ears appear behind my target! Excellent!!!!
  7. Presumably you already have a silencer (also called moderator) on it? If not, you can fit one. The silencer from the hw100 is supposed to be one of the best avaliable, although your looking at about £50 for a new one. On my pcp, it makes a massive difference to the noise. Of course with a underlever or springer, in my experience, you always get a bit more noise from the action. Silencer wise, i presume your hw97k doesnt come with a threaded barrel, so you`d either need to get a slip on silencer, or an adapter.
  8. I used to do 40,000miles a year, so even though my golf tdi does on average 54mpg (ive had 70mpg before over a 30mile door-to-door journey, and often get 60mpg average on the 70mile door-to-door trip to my gf`s place), that still used to workout at about 70quid a week!!! Unfortunately im unemployed at the moment, so my weekly fuel bill is hardly anything!!!
  9. Nice shooting! Shame the weather has been totally rubbish around my way this last week or so, so I havent been able to get out shooting much at all.
  10. I dont use them when in the field, but then i tend to only use my mossberg hushpower when out in the field, so its quiet anyway. When clay shooting, ive some in ear plug ones, which i seem to remember have some sort of thing in them to filter the bang out, but still let you ear what everyone is saying. Ive been down the clay range before without using the ear plugs and christ the bang is loud in comparison!!!
  11. Me & a mate saw what we thought was a massive black cat (or something) one evening after checking out some permission we had. Sods law I didnt have my shotgun with me, but we both felt very un-easy seeing this "thing" walking around where we had been standing minutes before. Luckily the car was closer than the cat, so we didnt hang about to verfiy exactly what breed the cat. I think if i was wandering about and the cat decided to get a bit fruity, id definately give it both barrels, but if it was minding its own business, id leave it alone.
  12. I agree with all the above. Try a few guns out in a couple of local gun shops and see which fits the best. I was in the same boat as you many years back, and I opted for the beretta al391 semi 12bore in the end for clays. What swayed me was the lower recoil, the 3 shots, plus i could use the same gun for pigeons etc, and I like to be a bit different! Brilliant gun, and ive never once had anyone else down the clay range frown at me for using a semi. After a few years, I fancied buying a new o/u 12 bore, and again went to the local gunshop and tried a few out. I walked into the shop with the
  13. Excellent. Nice one! For a minute then i thought that you had lost your permission all together! Looking forward to some nice results now! "millions of rabbits" sounds promising!!!
  14. lol @ phantom! your probably right there!
  15. 250 is a bit steep, i doubt if anyone would pay that for them. Theres loads of those folding .410 poacher guns like that about. Ive seen them before for 35quid upwards. Most of them seem to be around the 100quid mark. As the other guy on here said, for what you want, id prob go for a cheap o/u 12bore. You can get them for 100->150quid and would come in handy for a lot of things. SportingShooter is spot on with his comments on the .410.
  16. Excellent! My first rabbit seems years ago now. I remember being so nervous that i could hardly hold the gun straight! Then the excitment kicked in when I realised id actually got it! Well done!
  17. Cambridgeshire... Top service from these guys. SGC renewal has always come through very quickly. Firearms officer usually pops around just to say hello before issuing the renewal. They have never ever once wanted to see my guns or my cabinet.
  18. "On a Shotgun application you have 1 counter signature, who MUST be a professional, accountable person of standing ??? ie MP, Dentist, solicitor, Doctor, Nurse, somebody with qualification letters after their name" Now... thats what i always thought, and in the past ive had the local doctor, directors of companies etc... sign mine. BUT... last time my SGC came for renewal, i couldnt think of anyone who met that criteria, so I just got my girlfriend, whose a salesperson to sign it. It went through no problems what so ever. So, it may just be that a salesperson (or anyone who works in an off
  19. Nice footage of the woodpecker. Its always good when you see stuff like that. On one of my permissions I often see a lovely barn owl sweeping about at night, really makes for an awesome sight.
  20. Excellent! lol. Easy tea for him then!
  21. Well, just spoke to the land owner this evening, and they said that about 10mins after i left they saw the cat dragging this massive rabbit behind him past the farm house. Apparently the rabbit was the same size as the cat. Sods law eh? Looks like the cat won!
  22. One of my permissions has mixi. About 50% of the ones ive had recently from there look worse for wear. They are still alert etc... and hard to stalk, but the signs are there.
  23. Would 12v give you any longer battery life than a 6v though? I thought it just meant you get a more powerfull beam and battery life would be the same. Ive a 6v logan lamp i use and it lasts forever. Although, its not very bright, so if i was getting one, id go for a 12v just to get a better range / beam.
  24. Good shooting. A new permission is always good fun, as very often you can get quite a few kills quickly because the rabbits / birds arnt expecting it! I remember when i first went on one of my permissions, i could practically walk up to within 20 yards of rabbits and they wouldnt even look up! Now they seem to have 6th sense and its quite a challange getting within 45 yards of them before they get spooked! Pigeons can be a pain. They are very nervous sometimes and fly at the slightest thing. If you can find a sitting tree then thats good. There is one tree behind my GF`s house which us
