  1. I opted for the carbine version of the s410. Its lighter, and easier to handle when im out in the field. For me, i couldnt see any difference in accuracy between the classic & carbine and the only "downside" is the lower number of shots the carbine one has. But, when your talking of 70+ shots from the carbine anyway, thats more than enough for 3 or 4 hunting trips for me!
  2. I shoot a 410 .22 and personally dont see how the newer 510 version can possibly be more accurate. My gun can shoot pellet on pellet at 45 yards, so you cant really get better than that for a legal gun. The only improvements I can see are the cocking mechanism, which ive head very good reports on. Rather thant the bolt, its a finger operated cocking, which is much better. Also, i believe the 510 has a full length barrel shroud, so it should be quieter than a s410. Whether or not those are worth the large difference in price between a 410 and a 510 is debateable. If i had the money im s
  3. If you go that route, just use a load of paint stripper on it, thats the best option. Wouldnt take more than a few hours work to get that down to bare wood and then varnish or what-have-you.
  4. I saw that same letter myself. Personally i shoot both an o/u and a semi and regardless of which im using i always have them pointing at the ground when im not shooting. So, any idiot can see that they are "safe". If someone had a problem with me using a semi then to be honest, i wouldnt want to be on that shoot. For me shooting is about enjoying yourself and having a good (safe) day out. If snobbyness or anything like that gets in the way, then id rather just go elsewhere. I apprecate some shoots might want to be old school and stick to s/s or o/u or black powder muskets or something and fair
  5. Really the police should have done the old goats for wasting police time and blocking the road. I hate people like that who havent got anything better to do.
  6. Good advise above. I buy my co2 in bulk and they work out quite cheap. Id second the comment about tuning. If your not careful you can spend more on bits / tuning for the gun than you could have sold it and bought a better gun for. Ive made that mistake in the past and you have to draw the line somewhere. Id keep it as it is, and enjoy it for what it is. Get loads of practise with it and have fun!!!
  7. Cheers for the feedback. This has 82 stamped on the wood near the trigger guard, so im wondering if this was when it was manufactored? If its rare, then im a bit reluctant to use it much as this one is in mint condition and it would be a shame to take it out in the field! They're rare because they were never that popular in the UK. Like Edgar says, get out and enjoy it! Cheers. I certainly will. Cheers guys.

  9. Nice bag of pheasants there, ive not had any this year yet, but have my eye out. Quite fancy some for Christmas dinner!
  10. Ive just been given a .177 Diana G80 to have a play with and maybe sell on for a friend as he no longer uses it. Now, im not used to a springer at all, as I stick to my air arms s410. Anyway, ive had a bit of a play with the g80 in my garden and have to say im very supprised with how accurate it is. Its obviously noiser and got more of a kick to my pcp, but im getting really good results out of it, so now im thinking maybe i should keep it and get a decent scope for it. Has anyone else on here got any experiences of the g80?
  11. Agree with all the above. Practise and practise. It takes quite a few shots to get to know your rifle. What i do is save up empty beer or coke cans and just chuck them randomly about in my garden. Then i practise hitting them. I have quite a big garden, so i can get shots from about 10 yards upto 50 yards. You soon get to learn where you have to aim to get a perfect kill. In addition to this, i get an a4 bit of paper, and draw around a 2p piece on it, loads of small targets. Then celotape this to a cardboard box and place this at different ranges in the garden. This is ideal for adjusting you
  12. Has been known! I was chatting to an old pensioner the other day about magpies, and he confessed to me that he blasted a couple from his bathroom window with his 12bore. I couldnt believe it! With regards to FAC air rifle, i would have though that it would have been the easiest FAC rifle to be able to get permission for. First thing is to approach the local firearms officer and get his advice as to whether your permission is likely to be approved.
  13. Looks like an HW100 silencer? That shot from 45 yards was good. Ive had it before when you just see their ears and you sit there waiting for the head to appear to get the shot. Last time i did it the bunny was only a 1/2 grown one, but that one there looks massive!!!!! With regards to the rain... I always see bunnys out when its hammering down with rain. Id have thought they wouldnt like getting wet. Must take ages to dry all that fur, but they dont seem bothered.
  14. Nice write up there mate. Its always the same way tho isnt, it? I too sometimes have hours of frustration, then other times I get 2 or 3 bunnys in the space of 30mins!
  15. Excellent shooting there, esp that last shot! Nice footage.
  16. Mind you, if its an FAC then the .22 would still have a pretty flat trajectory would it not?
  17. Christ some big rabbits there! They are as big as the dog! Good shooting tho!
  18. Thats a good outing!! Quite a few meals there by the looks of it!!!
  19. Semi`s and pumps are restricted to 3 shots only on an SGC. (Thats 1 in the chamber and 2 in the mag) If you have a firearms license, you can get unrestricted versions of the shotguns which normally have 5 shots, although you can get extended mags to shoot upto 12 shots! Whether Beretta is the best make is a matter of personal opinion really.
  20. Id agree with the s410. There have been quite a few for sale recently, and it looks like you can get one incl silencer, scope etc... for around the £400 mark. I bought one in .22 about 12 months back and ive been very very pleased with it. Its great for both hunting and target practise. Remember to factor in that you`ll need a stirrup pump, which costs about £120 new to refill it, or your local gunshop can usually refill them for a few quid.
  21. Tough one really. I probably wouldnt have taken the shot, but i also wouldnt have wandered up to the police officer. If they wanted to speak to me they would have to walk in the field or call out to me. Id have just sat there & waited to see if they wanted anything or not. Does get your heart going a bit tho doesnt it? Ive had the police helicopter hovering above me when ive been lying in a field before stalking bunnies. Im sure it was only looking about for something or someone else, but I wasnt going to hang about to find out! At least you know noone has reported you, and it was
  22. I was just about to create a post on these. Ive seen litterally dozens of these appearing for sale on a daily basis on various forums atm and was wondering why everyone is selling them off?! Are they that bad?
  23. Gets my vote too, ive got one. Ideal for anything really, will cycle small 21g clay rounds as well as 3 inch ones. Multichoke, low recoil, 3 shots and holds its value extremely well. Ive had mine for years now and never had any problems. All depends really how much you are looking to spend and what you like the feel of. Get down a few shops and try a few guns out.
  24. christ, you need some proper wellys there mate. Mega muddy. Good shot tho, esp as it wasnt your rifle!
