  1. Thats really cool its amazing how many of these old weapons from the WW2 era are found underground. Workmen on the lsle of Lewis have uncovered grenades and petrol bombs that were buried after the war by the home guard but then the out of sight out of mind philosophy was strong then. cheers Callum That cannon's way older than WW2, Callum, it's more like Napoleonic War era. Brilliant find though. I wasn't 100% sure to be honest mate as naval guns similar to this were situated in remote areas during the two world wars, St Kilda and the Isle of Lewis being examples but on looki
  2. Get it shot-blasted, Chimp, that'll get the crap off without hours spent with Brasso. Fantastic find
  3. £270 for Fosters, £320 For Kronenburg
  4. It's pitted to feck, mate, if you've paid for that then you need to be having a word....

  6. Mainly .20 for me, but I do use .177 and .22 aswell. As has been said above and no doubt will be said again, it's shot placement that matters the most
  7. Oh right! They're a pretty bloody insular bunch on the whole. I read somewhere that only 4% of Yanks hold a passport
  8. I had a Brummy built Lightning with a ram fitted. It was many times better than the Spanish rubbish of today but it was still crap.
  9. There must be some right fat feckers on here judging by some of the replys
  10. The ram's a big plus point for me, I've had mine for about 15 years now and it's had a hell of a lot of use, the only problem I've ever had was when the gun hadn't been used for about 3 years and the ram lost a little pressure, they don't like being left idle for long periods. I prefer break barrels for ease of use, especially when the light goes. For me the 90 just fits and feels right, but then that's me. The Pro Sport and 97 are both first class springers with very little to seperate them. Out of the box the AA tend to have a smoother action and are very nice to shoot. HW's feel more li
  11. haha fair play, you speaking from experience then? Oh yes. Many times over, I used to fix airguns for a living years back For what it's worth, out of all the guns you've listed I'd go for the HW90. It's overall the best springer on the market IMHO, but as I said, it really boils down to what ever rifle feel 'right' for you. There's not really a best, they're just different.
  12. As above regards the Lighting, they're shite. Rubbish build, crap triggers, useless moderator, the screws need constant tightening because they twang and rattle like feck, stupid odd sized scope rail, the barrels go slack in the jaws after a while 'cos the bloody things are made from not much better than pig iron and it's only held in with a stupid little pin, and last but by no means least it says BSA (BRITISH Small Arms!!!!) on them and the shitty things are made in Spain All the others you mentioned are quality kit and it's down to personal preferance
  13. It's like trying to look through a kids climbing frame, using those bloody things for me
  14. Nice post, Mike, but you and only you could use the phrase 'gives it legs' followed by 'oh bother'!!
  15. In a perfect world, fillet steak (must be blue!!), seasonal veg and cheesy mash, large open cup mushrooms all soaked in a proper rich thick gravy. Oh, and Dijon mustard for the steak!!
  16. It's a pretty bloody impressive bit of timeing however the hell the managed to hit those bullets in flight with another projectile. That must've taken some patiance to set up!!
  17. Thanks, lads. I found it in the Rimfire, Centrefire and Shotgun forum on a thread started by Millet. The footage is courtesy of McKenna3 who posted it
  18. Hi folks. I found this on another forum on THL and thought I'd post it on here. Some of you may find it interesting.... Cheers.
  19. Good advice above Theoben make some beautifully made and lovely looking rifles but they don't shoot as well as they look. They've a very sharp recoil that does scopes no good at all in the long term, they are relatively hard to cock and the triggers are nowhere near as good as they should be for the price. I've used an HW90 for the past 15 years and I can't recomend them highly enough. First class build and trigger, fairly gentle recoil and all the good stuff that comes with using Theoben's gas ram. Welcome to the forum Cheers.
  20. If it's a DIY job and you've got the gear, then I'd say you're best off drilling out the old thread and fitting a bigger grub screw and as you say, maybe one either side of the barrel won't hurt. The standard set up is a bit marginal at best. I use a Ratty myself from time to time, they are flawed but can be made into a decent little rifle given a bit of patience I'd leave the epoxy alone unless it really is a last resort. Seals do need changing sometimes and that won't help. Have a look at TR Robbs website, here's the link...... http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~trobb/
