  1. The mention of human evolution and natural selection throws up a whole new question for me. If evolution really is based on the premice of survival of the fittest, then isn't humankind as a spiecies as a whole, at least in the western world, now in a state of decline and devolution?? Modern medicine has now allowed folks who would otherwise not be able to reproduce due to disability or being infertile to do so. In the natural world. that's not an issue, if an animal has such problems it either dies young or has no offspring therefor it is unable to pass along what may be faulty genes to fu
  2. Well The new testament was written in ancient Greek and there were several words that were translated into are word love. Philo, Agapeo are a couple of them. A quote from deadgame... That's the thing though, the modern version of the bible was bassed on what was originally written by one Greek bloke in the year 124 AD. It was one man's interpritation of very many books, scrolls and anicdotal stories (many of which were ignored and omitted...). In that sence alone it almost makes Christianity the same as Islam purely in the way that it is just one man's version of events, and what agenda di
  3. Edit... Removed, poor taste on a good thread
  4. Deadgame, you say that god 'loves us all' and then you go on to say that ' If we decide that we do not want to be with God when we die it will be enforced. It's a bit like saying to someone 'love me or I'll kill you', don't you think? And lets be honest, most of the ten commandment are god telling Moses to pass on to the rest of mankind that if we don't worship 'him' we're all damned? Funny kind of love, IMHO.
  5. Sounds like you've been through some pretty horrible things, Deadgame, and to lose a child like that is unthinkable. Whatever it was that gave you the strenght to come out the other side, however you look at it, it was you who made the decision to straighten yourself out and I respect you very much for that. Stay well, mate
  6. Great story Where's it from, Artic? Whoever it is, I hope they get a result.
  7. Move the front mount forwards and the rear mount back on the TX. You don't want a scope clamped next to the adjuster turrets on a springer
  8. Well happy clappy Jesus is probably healthier for the bloke than blow, booze or a bullet in the head. Spot on............... I don't hold with organised religion at all, but if it's the catalyst that helps some folks to find their inner strength to overcome problems, then fair enough. Each to their own

  10. Aye, the theory, created, held and promoted by humans. It's a means of assertion that we are dominant, the most important and therefore have a right to do what we like with the other species. I think in the bible it says something like god created man in his image and all the other animals were created for man. Therefore we are somehow elevated and have free reign to abuse all the other species. Of course this is a judo-christian thing. If you look at most 'anamist' or 'totemist' religions or first people, such as the bushmen, pigmys, native americans, then you see that they m
  11. f*****g everything in sight and hoping most of the offspring survive seems to be doing it for nearly every other animal? It's maybe one of the things that separates us from other animals then, same as religion.
  12. I think you are right with the first bit mate. I think many anthropologists would argue that love is ultimatly a way of ensuring security through a pack /tribal / community structure etc. ..or maybe love is unique to man because we're the only ones capable of the use of language to describe what would otherwise be nothing more than a raw, primal instinct..? Or is love an emotion only found in humans because we have the ability of a deeper bond due to our superior intelignence, thought process and ability to reason? Possibly, some psychologists argue that the every facet
  13. That's why the catholics invented confession, Scot
  14. Sounds like a classic case of someone who's stood on the brink, starring into the abyss. It's how religion gets it's hooks into so many folks when they're weak and vulnerable and seeking answers. Look further into yourself, mate. It's YOU who found the courage to get yourself sorted out and fair play to you for doing so
  15. For those that have never done, or wanted to do anything like those blokes in the film, I can understand how wreckless it must seem but to those who do...........
  16. For the price of a new Gamo Lightning XL which is poorly built and has a crap trigger you could get yourself a properly made HW95 with a top class trigger. I'd agree that any new springer will benefit from a little TLC, as stated above, but to say that a sporting gun doesn't need a good trigger is daft. No offense intended
  17. I wouldn't call him wreckless, Rob, he's not overtaking on blind corners but I'd question his choice of cloathing though Very good machine control I think Ghostrider did get killed, Lumphammer, but I could be wrong. I've been trying to work out what the first bike is bird, but I'm not sure. Best guess is a KTM
  18. Agreed!! But the bloke on the lead bike has got some proper class
  19. Lovely Mainly Lincoln Jeffries and BSAs from what I can see and the odd Jem too. A bit of a British rifle fan then?
  20. Just stick with anything German or Air Arms and you won't go far wrong. The quality of BSAs these days is pretty bloody poor and whilst the Theobens are beautifully built and finished, their triggers aren't what they should be and they kick like feck for an airgun tending to make them very hold sensative and they also have a well earned reputation for wrecking scopes. There is no 'best', it boils down to what feels right to you Edit to add... Welcome to the forum
