anyone heard of this gun??
andyfr1968 replied to birkychrissy's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If I was closer to you, I'd love to have a look and a haggle! I had one in the early 's and loved it. I can't remember the last time I saw one for sale, so I've no clue as to it's worth. Good luck with it, mate, and if you don't get a buyer and you find yourself further south, give me a shout... Cheers. -
What pellets best to use weihrauch HW80 - .22
andyfr1968 replied to RSWO's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi, mate. It's a very long time ago but mine used to shoot best with RWS Superdomes. That said, things have moved on a fair bit since then. H and N FTTs seem to work consistatly well in all my springers these days although I don't have any HW guns in .22 anymore. Try as many as you can, what works best in one gun may not shoot so well in another, even in guns of the same type. Cheers. -
Hi, mate. The recoil shouldn't affect your lamp but if you mount it to a springer, it will change where your shots hit. I always used a good head torch when lamping with springers, as you don't need to worry about re-zeroing as you do with a gun mounted lamp. I don't know how you'd get on with useing open sights with a head torch though. I could see that may cause problems seeing the sights properly... Cheers.

If it's mint and a reasonable scope, then maybe. They weren't really much cop when they were new 30 odd years ago... Cheers. Edit.. They were first sold with interchangeable .177 and .22 barrels. If it's got both then it's of a little more value.

Hi, mate. I've never really thought about that, good question! I s'pose I've always used where I'm stood, sat, whatever but if you think about it, you're only talking a couple of feet or so, so don't worry. Cheers.

Hi, mate. Bloody hell, they've been doing the rounds for a long time!! I had one about 15 years ago and from what I can remember, it was a really good, if basic scope. I like basic. Just like me.... That said, back then they were built in Japan to a high standard. A lot of modern stuff are built in China and sometimes not so well made. A lot of Tasco's for example, have suffered since... Cheers. -
Hi, mate. If it's not getting in the way, why worry? What you're shooting at won't give a toss what your gun looks like. Cheers.

Aaron, the lad's shooting a .22, you use a .177. 'i shold think' is not really sound advice, is it?

anyone heard of this gun??
andyfr1968 replied to birkychrissy's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi, mate. If it's working as it should then it will be close to full power. The lower powered version was a budget paper puncher with a diopter sight and was only available in .177. Really nice old springer you've got there, mate. Look after it!! Cheers. -
Help from all you air gun smiths.
andyfr1968 replied to air gunner's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The pins on those BSAs and also Lightnings tend to be a lose fit. I've had them fall out on their own just by takeing the action away from the stock. The build quality's not best. A-hem.... If a good clean and lube's not worked, take it to a gun smith. Do NOT be tempted to polish anything unless you really know what you're doing. Safety first. Good luck! Cheers. -
Sorry to hear you're going, Zini but all the best and good luck. You've been one of the good guys on here, always helpful and impartial, great vids and write-ups too. This place really can't afford to lose many more of the regulars, it really can't!! Cheers. Andy.

Good to see you back, Buster!! Hope you're well, mate.. Cheers!

In no paticular order, AA410c .22. HW90 .20, RWS52 .177, Webley Xocet and Tracker both .177, BSA Lightning .22, Crosman King Ratty and Nightstalker .22/.177, Benjamin EB22, BSA Scorpion (pistol) .22, a stupid Barnet Quad 400 x-bow and Merlin Max 2000 compound bow. All the springers except the 52 and the Scorpion are gas-rams. Cheers. Edit... Bugger, must learn to read. You said pre-charge. That'll be the 410 then. Sorry!

Scuba, Buster, now Wuzzy. Other regulars have left this alone too for quite a while. Shame... Better place's to be..... I know the mods have a tough job but keeping the tw*ts under control has got to be a priororty otherwise this place will just turn to sh1t. Cheers.....

Hi, mate. Altering your grip won't change the recoil. The gun will still do what it does... Springers need a light grip so they can do what they need to do in their own way. Just let the gun rest gently in your grip so that each time you fire, the gun can recoil consistantly from shot to shot. Lightning's don't tend to have a good fireing cycle, they tend to bounce and twang their way worse than most springers. I fitted a gas-ram to mine ages ago and while it may not have reduced the recoil, it did make the gun much easier to shoot and a lot more plesant to use. I still don't like

Many moons ago I was out rabbiting on the estate where I worked. We'd been having a big problem at the time with foxs raiding the release pens so most of the time I'd have a shotgun on my arm. We'd been after the buggers for ages but little joy.. Sod's law on this outing, I'd got my old Airsporter with me when as I was creaping along, Charlie popped out in front of me not 5 yards away. We looked at each other for a few seconds, then he ambled away.... I swear he knew there was sod-all I could do! Cheers.

Nice one, Davy! Good luck, mate... Cheers.

Basic, old design but a good solid gun that'll shoot well. Enjoy! Cheers,

Hi, mate. There's not a lot wrong with the scopes you've tried. Yes they are basic and cheap but plenty good enough for what you've got. Don't waste your money on the VX, a top class scope for a CF rifle but you'll find it won't focus properly at airgun ranges, especialy as the mag goes up and as you've said, the PX will be way out and that'll cause even more problems. As has been said, it sounds like a mounting problem. Get a good one piece mount, make sure there's no oil, dirt, grease where it clamps to the gun and tighten it all up well. Cheers. PS.. Where abouts are you

Hi, mate. I'm fairly new to PCPs and have only had my 410 for about 6 months. I used to fill to 190 bar and got nearly shots but the first 15-20 or so they seemed to fall a little low. Saw a thread on here a while back that said not to fill past 160ish as 'cos the gun's not regulated (I don't understand the mechanics of this!), they don't like it. I now fill mine to 160bar and get around 60 shots that I know will go exactly where I want. If I do my bit.... Cheers.

Hi, mate. I know what you mean! Too much to play with on a lot of scopes these days for field use. My main scope is a Walther 4-12x50 30mm tube, px, blah blah.... I just leave the px set to my average range and the mag never goes off 6x. I'd love to be able to get a nice simple 6x44 (ish) for airgun use but I can't seem to find one for love nor money. Perfect for an airgun in the field IMO. Cheers.

Yeah, that's why I took it to a gun shop. Their problem... Being a .20 it was an odd order, apparently... It set me back about £. Maybe a .22 barrel won't be so much of a problem, or cost. Dunno.... Good luck! Cheers.

Makeing your own air gu
andyfr1968 replied to paddy.t's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Yup. Total doddle. Airguns are just like Leggo... If you do give it a go, then I wish you all the best. Cheers. Edit to say.... If you've got the gear to have a go then why not? I've pi**ed around with airguns for years but have never had access to those kind of tools. Good luck! -
