  1. DIVERD, I thank you! A proper answer to the original question. What you've said makes perfect sense. I wasn't thinking of filling with nitrogen, it's just the first post made me think... It won't blow up, burn, react with anything in the gun, is the same density as air, so why not?? Cheers.
  2. Hey, folks! This could be the new '.177 v .22, pointed v domed, spring v PCP' !! Nitrogen v Air! The new age of conflict begins!! Oh bugger...... To anyone who REALLY understands this question, please, don't be shy and reply?? Cheers?!?! Edit... Spelling... It's late....
  3. Hi, mate! I use a 410 but in .22. Seems to like H and N FTT's and Loguns best. I've used .177 for many years before and as Zini said, the best pellets I found were the Mags and Baracudas (same things). Try them, if your gun likes them, you won't go far wrong. Cheers, and good luck! PS... There was no real reason for me changeing caliber. I really don't think it matters too much with the p*ss all power we've got and the ranges we shoot at.....
  4. I understand what you're saying, Terry, and I totaly agree that messing around randomly with other gasses is really not a good idea. However, nitrogen's what air's mostly made of, it's the oxygen and moisture in air that perrishes seals etc. The original question ( and mine's ) is why specifically nitrogen's no good for a PCP?
  5. Thanks Terry. I can see (as I hope anyone with at least half a brain can ) that the two gasses mentioned in your post are, er, a very bad idea! However, Why is nitrogen bad? It's innert, the same density as air, won't blow up or burn. Like I said, I'm not being a smart-arse, so can anyone please explain WHY nitrogen's not safe to use? Cheers.
  6. WHY would nitrogen be an explosion risk?? It's innert! I'm no expert on gasses but logic would seem to say that a gas that does not support combustion ( nitrogen ) would be safer than one that does ( air ). I'm not trying to be a smart-arse but can anyone explain why nitrogen is not safe?? Cheers.
  7. Shop around, mate. There are some bagains about. I got a mint AA410c, walnut stock, shots per charge (.22), all the charging gear for £400. First PCP I've had after 30 odd years with springers. I'll always keep them, but this is in a different league!! Cheers.
  8. Try Bisley Mags/H and N Baracudas (same thing). Very under-used and under-rated! Give them a go, worked well for me for a long time in .177. Cheers.
  9. Hi, mate. Co2's cool (no punn!!) so long as it's not too cold outside. If it's over 5'c outside, you'll be ok. I use a King Ratty (sometimes) that use's the same 88g powerlets as the 850 and have no problems in the main. If it is really cold though, think again. One second they're fine, the next, they're not.. Best not risk it. As has been said, you can't re-fil them, but if you Google (or whatever...) you can find folks who do kits for Co2 guns but they cost a feckin' fortune and they're really is no point. Cheers and good luck!
  10. I'd stuck with springers for the last 30 (sh*t, I'm old!) years and loved them. The only dealings I'd had with PCP's were first generation stuff from way back 'till a while ago. Very poor reliable shot count. Broke a lot. Expensive. Etc.... Had an invite, cheers Davy, to go shooting a few months back with some friends and I had the chance to try out a few modern PCP's and was well impressed!! I ended up going for the AA410c as, for me, it was so easy to use and get on with. shots when sorted (.22), how many do you need in the field? Handle a few yourself and see what seems bes
  11. Try TR Robb ( I think that's what they're called), They've loads of stuff for Ratty's. Cheers.
  12. The Pro-sport's a top class springer. Don't even think about the Lighning, it's no where near in the same league as the Air Arms. Cheers.
  13. H & N FTTs or Loguns work best in my AA410c .22. Baracudas and Dynamic SPC 5s work the best in my HW90 .20. Cheers.
  14. I guess it may be all the screwed up seasons we've had over the past few years. I'm sure it wasn't like this when I were a lad but Victoria was still on the throne then... Cheers.
  15. Hi, folks. Just got home after a good day out on the estate. All was well, or so I thought until I took a closer look at the one rabbit in the bag and noticed it had early signs of Mixy. Is this normal for this time of year? I've never seen it so late in the year at such an early stage. My shoot's near Weatherby, West Yorks. Anyone else in the area seen it? Cheers. Andy. PS. Sorry no pics, I'm a techno f***wit.

Cuddle up with my lady, put a good film or music on, open a good wine, chill, enjoy each other, talk, kiss, whatever................... Cheers.
  17. Don't do that, mate. If it lands in someone's eye, they'll have you in court!! Save it for the comfort of your own home, or at least some where private..... Cheers.
  18. As has been said, don't fall into the .177 vs .22 crap for hunting. They will both do the business if you do... For the target stuff, yes .177 may be a little more forgieving but in the field over the short'ish ranges we shoot at it really does not matter too much. I've used .177, .20 and .22 over many years. Started with .22 (30 years ago as that was 'the hunting caliber'), used .177 for a long time after my FAC ran out. Been useing .20 for the past year or or so, as I'd not tried it before and now ended up back with .22. I think caliber is in the shooter's head for field use but
  19. Mate, I feel for you. I hope so much that it all gets sorted, as that's so very wrong. Good luck with it, fella. Cheers.
  20. :umm: Queary.... a 45 or a 54? Phantom Wasn't the 50 range all side levers?? The one below the 45 break barrel was the 34, I think. Long time ago!! I've slept and had a few beers since then but I think I'm right......... Cheers. Edit to say... The 50 was an under lever but from the 52 on, they were (still are) side levers.
  21. That's a 45. Top class springer in it's day and still a good gun now. Result!! Pleased for you, mate Cheers.
  22. A Panther Delux, no less!! I could only afford the standard one as a kid. Not the heady £17.95 for that one!! Cheers.
  23. Or even a good springer..... Cheers. Edit to say.... The best pellets I've found for my own Lightning (.22) are H and N FTs.
