    Dogs look fine to me. Hounds are bouncing and look healthy, terriers look well fed. Conditions could be better but they are by far better than a lot of peddlers yards. Can think of a couple of famous names who've been pulled on here for having shit conditions for their dogs and pups. That's my take from the video ?

    It's the removing the water content I'm trying to achieve. Raw veg, especially roots and tubas hold a lot of water. Concentrating the liquid isn't the problem, it's cooking it down but keeping the nutrition and bite. So far... failure ?

    One thing I've noticed about this coursing bred dog compared to my old and other lurchers I've seen, is the sheer power and agility in the run. He will knock other dogs out of the way with his arse at full speed spinning in circles, change direction 90° at top flight without slowing in the slightest. It's unbelievable to watch. Whether that's just him or coursing bred in general, I don't have enough experience to say but it is fuucking impressive to watch.

    I've said I would get over to Dan the man in Illinois one day and have a few days out with him and the lads on the coyotes. If I remember correctly he used to say that dogs have no chance on the pronghorns. Still it would be great to watch.

    Those ration packs are a waste of money, unless you are on expedition. Any tinned goods will do ok for a few days in ziplocks, eg beans etc (I really like the tinned tripe they do here). A couple of kgs of cooked chicken wings and some uncoocked meat. Pasta/rice/quinoa/ramen etc for carbs. Chocolate, maybe some dried fruit and nuts etc. I can feed 2 people for 4 days on less than 20€. That's feeding around an extra 1500cal a day per person too.     I was on the floor a couple of weeks ago with my sciatica. Had a couple of months over summer where it reigned in, so didn't pay any mind, lifted my leg to put a shoe on and boom.     Same thing as with humans. Apparently the idea (evolutionary speaking) is that the hair raises up to trap air, therefore creating a layer between the cold air outside and the warmer air trapped closer to the body between the long and short coats. It works the same as wearing layers in the mountains, duck down, or even a synthetic stuffed quilt. Snow is a massive insulator due to the air content. I remember reading somewhere about igloos being something like 15°C warmer than outside not taking into account windchill.

    I was in a church the other day, the mrs wanted to look at the architecture. I decided to have a prayer (after all, I was raised Catholic and have taken all the bits). Have to admit, I felt like I did when I was a kid... a complete fuucking hypocrite. Even if I wanted to, I can't subscribe to faith. It also left me feeling a bit empty, that I could never achieve that childlike innocence of belief ever again. That and genuflecting did my back in ?
