Nearly took a 12gauge in my back whilst ratting once. I'm doing the smoker and the land owner decided to join us on the gun line. Cnut fired at a rat which was about 1.5-2 yards away to my left. If he'd been stood just 1 yard further back, the pattern spread would've nailed me. Instead, I ended up like an extra from the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan, covered in soil and shit. Never ratted with guns since. Can't beat a terrier pack and ferrets with a smoker to flush them out. Grand day out and I always wore gloves ? As for sticking my bare hand in a bag of live rats.... f

A bit off topic but this reminds me of a mate lol We were out on the lash as young lads and got into a bit of mischief (as you do) When this muppet who had just had a slap threatened my mate.... with himself ???? I also think we can never know what goes on in another man's mind, even with experiencing the same scary shit. I still look at the photos of my grandad before he deployed for D day. He only wanted to help his boys (combat nurse) yet his eyes on the photos are cold and pained and he chose that. He never brought it home afterwards, yet others crumbled under the weight and were written off. Same shit happens today, my cousin and countless others. I always feel laughter and connection beats any pill or diagnosis but the reality is, real mental illness will wipe the mate/son/daughter/father/mother etc from their SD card and leave them behind wondering, feeling alone and uncared for.
