  1. collie crosses are not the best dog for a first time lurcher owner mate ... they need a certain way of bringing on to get the best out of them otherwise you will end up with a hyper active neurotic dog that will test your patience on a daily basis .........

  5. these are the general symptoms of lactic acid build up ....cramp ... muscle spasms anf general fatigue ... you will get these symptoms if your dog was doing anaerobic exercise (training without oxygen)... what i mean by that is sprinting or any rapid burst of hard exercise ... anaerobic exercises can't last long because oxygen is not used for energy and a by-product lactic acid is produced.... this is different to aerobic exercise such as long runs where you are constantly taking on a regular controled amount of oxygen to fuel your body ......... i believe that number of factors con
  6. it doesnt sound like heat stroke to me ... here are the signs and symptoms Panting High body temperature Dehydration Red (congested) membranes in the mouth and eyes Rapid, irregular heart rate Diarrhoea Weakness, looking dazed Coma Death if it was heat related the dog wouldnt be experiencing discomfort for as long as you say ... he would have either have cooled down and been fine or he would have died ........
  7. get a deeper bowl or a galvanised steel bucket ... or cut a piece of mesh to fit in the bottom of your bowl ... put the rock sulpher in mesh on top fill with water ... job done ........
  8. i dont think there is any vitamin E in butter ??? and if there is it will be a very small amount and wouldnt be worth using when you look at all the bad fats the dog would be getting by feeding it butter ... if you want to add vit E the dogs diet then use wheat germ oil ... as for the fatty acids the dog will get plenty of that from the meat it is eating ........
  9. why would you want to feed butter, baked beans, peanuts and mushrooms for ??? did i waste my time putting up the list ??? i feed fruite and veg as it give the dog the vitamins and minerals that they dont get from meat and bone alone .........

  15. the problem with giving a ferret to much room is that they can go a little feral on you and becoome a tad difficult to handle ... i have done this in the past as a youngster.... the best thing you can do for your ferret is get another one as they love company and are a much happier animal when they have another ferret to play with day in day out .........
  16. well i think rabiteer and rob would as well and of coarse i might it could be 2 rugby pitches no they wouldnt ........... now socks i cant see why if i say its 200 yards you dont just beleave me, i have 2 people down here who will vouch for what i say and you know em both so surely they wouldnt lie for the sake of a few yards, ive said come on down and i will show you but in a previous post of yours about early pace you said a bitch of yours has the earliest pace youve seen and shes a half cross,i didnt comment but this black bitch is in a differant leauge and the merle i parted

  19. mark do you actualy know how far 200 yards is ??? you would be lucky to see a rabbit in the beam in rough grass at that distance ........
  20. i have no doubt that rob's dog is a good little worker but how do yuo know he one of the best dogs off moochers ??? have you see ALL the others work ??? ............
  21. KAY never mind about silly bits of string and throwing dead rabbits around all you will end up with is a dog that thinks p[laying tug of war is fun and will bit down harder on his game to keep it in its mouth as you are forcing a retrieve which is never good .... get a rabbit skin and a sock fill the sock with some rags and something to add a bit of weight (some damp sand ) and wrap the skin aroud the sock ... now spend a day or 2 jsut teasing the dog with the skin and letting him mouth it when he gets to excited put it away ... stage 2 take the dog to somwhere where he cant get past you like
  22. freezing kills off the vit E in veg .... i make my meat and veg up in bulk and freeze it

  24. yep and when you have assesed the dog and worked out what type of muscle structure it has you can then creat a programme to maximise its potential alongside its diet to reduce the lactic acid build up in the muscle you are creating or shaping .........
  25. thats where it whent ... i hope you followed the feeding regime rigorously taking particular note of the cheese and chutny lunch washed down with the cheapest cola you can buy followed by the enforced rest period of 18 hours .... this is the key to the excersise and if you deviated off it then i am afraid all your hard work was in vain ..... i look forward to your rippling body doing a few more turns on the shovel this year as the chalk and flint has broken many a tough guy up here ..............
