hi socks i was talking to phil the other night he knows the ground and the farmer of the area i was on and warned me of due to flint now when i run it the farmer did say lads dont run his farm for 2 reasons 1 is flint,now my dogs ran it and ran it well no marks all i can say is there must be a lot of south soft dogs which wouldnt last in my kennels all the best mark that land dont look flinty to me mark ... if i took a picture of the ground up here i lamp no matter where i pointed the camera there would be flint and chalk .... anyway looks like you had a good night ...........

How do you know it was done without anesthetic They dont know.But they probably dont care.They just jump on the band wagon because they think it sounds good.If i didnt know it was a hunting forum id think it was the anti brigade.Especially using the antis favourite word BARBARIC. pups need to be docked by a vet with all the relevant paper work completed. leave well alone that pup is far to old to have that tail docked now ... the only painless and safe way to dock at that age is with surgery ...... a pup is a lot different than a lamb and a lamb ring will be agony for the pup and will cause an infection ............

it doesnt take the brains of an arch bishop to see which posters are genuine hunters and which are not and as a mod on here you should know who is who and be able to say yep they are only pet and show keepers and add nothing but fluffy nonsence to every thread put up ... its easy really you hunt or not and if you dont bye bye .......... as for your modding duties i know all about them as i mod on moochers but i mod the whole board not just one section and i manage to do that ok inbetween everything else i have to do .............

nobody said that there was a mass influx of show threads ... BUT there are plenty of show pet keepers on here that talk nonsense on most of the posts and try and drag in their fluffy attitude causing arguements on most of the threads ..........

the point i am trying to get across here is that if it wasnt for the show/pet keepers we wouldnt know half as much about ferrets as we do now, who's to say we cant learn more from them ? i can honestly say hand on heart that the ferret and dog pet/show brigade have taught me nothing about general welfare feeding or conditioning of the animals i keep ... how can a ferret pet/show owner tell me anything about the animal when they dont keep them fit for purpose ... i can guarantee you that my regularly hunted ferrets are far fitter than a pet show one .... how can they teach me anything

i dont doubt it for a second mate but it seems that the ferreting section attracts more than the rest for some reason .... i think the mods on this site need to earn their keep and scrole through suspect posters have a good look at their threads and if it is blatantly obviouse they are not hunters then get rid of them ....................

why is the ferreting section so saturated with people that are obviously pet keepers and would curl up and cry into their pillows if they seen a rabbit bolted by a ferret and dispatched humanely ................ this is a hunting site for people that keep and work their ferrets for the job they have been bred to do for hundereds of years and not for the fluffy show/pet brigade .... i am sure there are plenty of sites out there that they can join and talk about who won what show to their hearts content and leave the rest of us to get on with hunting and hunting talk ......... mods ??? .

what the point in sending a baby ferret into an empty warren ??? thats not going toteach it anything ... and what would happen if the kit fell down a 2 foot drop ??? with no locator on you wouldnt be able to find it and it would starve to death .... as i said you know nothing about working ferrets so give up trying to answer questions you know nothing about you are starting to make yourself look a little silly fella ...........

deben have the monopoly on ferret locaters the mark 1 or the mark 3 are your best bet its up to you ... i have just bought a mark 3 set myself and am about to put my mark 1 boxes and collers on e bay ..... as for working age you need to wait untill the kits are 6 months old really so that they are physically and mentally mature to handle a big old buck rabbit in a stop end ...........

DO NOT place wet sheets over a ferret hutch on a hot day as all you will do is produce a sauna type effect ... just fill some pop bottles with water freeze them and put them inside the hutch the ferrets will sleep next to them to keep cool ...........
