1000 yds suits me fine but i am not running my dog unless the purse is a decent one. i dont normally take one on one competitions but i will make an exception in your case just to prove a point. but as i say the money needs to be of a substantial size.

i only keep distance dogs as to me the sprint is over far to quickly and doesnt in my opinion test the dog to his fullest. i have a very good marathon dog at the moment that i will put up against anything in your kennel for any amount of money. as you say you have a GREAT deal of experience so you Must have something in your kennel that you can race against my dog. OR DO YOU ???

i am not pushing for an arguement its just that i think i may know a little more than the youngsters. i also own and race greyhounds

racing and training greyhounds is a far cry from lurcher work. and if you have only been around greyhounds for 28 years then you are obviously either very young or entered the world of dogs late and still have a lot to learn.

the whole point of crossing certain breeds over a greyhound is to dilute the amount of running blood but gain in other aspects such as tractability sagasity and trainabilty to name just a few, there are certain jobs that a pure greyhound just is not cut out for, it is far easyer to go and buy a pure greyhound than it is to produce a lurcher if they were the better dog for hunting you would not have people spending many long years producing certain types of lurcher, greyhounds are point and chase dogs and are better suited to the track which they excell at.
