    my missus is hell bent on getting a weimaraner as a pet saying that i will probably use it for picking up on the local shoot if the training goes ok ... i just wanted to know what are they like trainability wise ? are they a nightmare pup ? do they have any silly little traits that you need to watch out for ??? it will be living in the house so are they destructive etc ........ i am confident in my ability to train most dogs to do most things but my missus is going to be the primary trainer of this dog as it will be her companion and a heads up on a new breed is always the sensible option

    the best digging dog i have ever owned was as quiet as a church mouse was safe with ferrets would let dogs bully him and steal his food he would sleep outside rather than in his kennel if one of the other dogs decided that they didnt want him in there ... BUT when he whent to ground there was a whole different story ................

    rabbit bones are fine as you can see by my puppy tucking into this lovely leg ......... as you can see it has done her no damage ..........

    what for ? they live in a cage where they know where everything is .... and i guarantee you that they know where their food is by scent before they do by sight .... sight is the least most important sense needed for working unerground in the pitch blackness ... FACT.

    if one of my workers lost its sight i would keep it and still work it as i said in an earlyer post ferrets have shit eyesight anyway and dont need vision underground .........

    hold on and step back i am going to agree with JOJOAMOJO on this one ... a ferret has very poor eye site anyway and one eye missing is nothing to worry about as far as hunting ability goes ... the ferret needs a good nose to find its quarry in a large and deep warren it needs to be mobile to be able hunt all day in warrens that have up to three layers and a hundred holes and it needs a decent set of teeth and good jaws to be efficient at its job of dispatching battled up rabbits when needed ... it cant see underground anyway so what difference would one two or no eyes make ??? .......... o

    give the vet a ring mate and get the name i would be very interested to look into that ......

    i presume that what she was talking about was LUNGWORM as this can be contracted from slugs and snails ....... there is no preventative medicenes for this so she is being ripped off by the vets .... the only cure for lungworm is panacure 10% in liquid form .........

    with all due respect and running the risk of causing a row or being a bunny hugger..........having not seen the ferret bar on a youtube clip how could you possibly know its in constant pain and therefore deem it worthy to be shot? Busa is giving the ferret a while to see if it recovers and that should be respected. JOJOAMOJO dont twist my post ... i never said i KNEW it was in constant pain i asked HOW DO YOU KNOW IT ISNT IN CONSTANT PAIN .... unlikr you i have kept ferrets for a long long time and i have pretty much seen it all ... when you get one kit in the litter like this 90%

    just because its eating how do you know it isnt in constant pain ??? the lack of wanting to move around would indicate to me that the poor little fecker is hurting and that means every day you do gooder types keep it alive is another day the animal is suffering ... a classic case of the pet brigade killing with kidness ..........

    its a baby kit the its been fed the same as the others and they are fine so it isnt diet ... it hasnt been anywhere apart from its cage so it couldnt have had an injury severe enough to effect its mobility ... it obviously has a spinal or hip defect that it has been born with .... the sad fact is it probably wont get better so its better to do the decent thing now rather than later ..........

    that young hob didnt even look like it wanted to move which would tell me that it is in some sort of discomfort ... it obviously has some sort of defect that is going to effect it for the rest of its life and seriously hinder it at a worker so that means it is destined for a life in a cage .... do the decent thing and end its misery now ...........

    if i ever get to the stage that my mind is going and i know deep down in my heart that i am failing fast and am going to end up being a burden to those around me i would get my dogs and haul my ass out into the sticks and sit up high on a hill overlooking the country i have hunted all my life and i will sit there with my dogs make peace with the world and let natures forces take me off ............

    cut a piece of hose pipe and cover the end of the tail secure it in place with tape but leave the top end open so that air can circulate ... get a good wound powder and pour on the tip throught he open end of the hose twice a day ... 10 days should see it cured ........

    you can get lung worm in this country as one of my greyhounds fetched it back from ireland with him and passed it on to my lurcher bitch .... you need to rest the dog so as not to agrevate the lungs and treat with panacure 10% liquid ... be aware that lungworm can kill your dog ......

    kitten milk will be fine mate but as has been said if the jill is moving it all the time there may well be something wrong with it ..........
