I always wean them at 3 weeks and although some disagree with it I always put them on warm weetabix in milk and have never had a problem. As they get older get them on to better grub etc. I seen a litter of Springers last week that had been weaned from the bitch onto a specialist weaning pellet that was tiny and the breeder was soaking them in a milk supplement and the pups looked good and healthy. Nice pups in the pic.

Threads like this make you realise that the hunting way of life might just have a future.

I've dug to a few wheaten crosses but have never heard of a good line of working terrier that had wheaten as an outcross back in them. The staff cross always seemed to go on to better things. Doesn't mean there's none about but I've never heard of a line with wheaten in it that's stood the test of time. Fatmans wheaten cross was a helluva terrier and years ago I dug a few hundred times to a Wheaten / Cairn X Jack Russell. She wasn't 100% but we got a lot of sport from her over 7 or 8 seasons and I always reckoned it was the wheaten in her that carried the cairn and russell. I think the wheat

Where was that Liam ? It doesn't always be Gypsies, in other words trust no one, and sometimes the mark put on a fence can mean there's dogs here = Do not burgle.

Trump has banned all trans-genders from the U.S. army. Personally I can't see why you wouldn't want the likes of this fighting for your freedom. http://people.com/bodies/transgender-activist-freebleed-men-can-menstruate/

Proper hunting IS conservation. IMO if those clowns can get that many signatures on a petition then if Mr Bax has got good friends then they should get as equally good a petition.

So in Northern Ireland the thieving scum used to steal dogs under the watchful eye of Stephen Phillpott, now they're doing it unidentified. I wonder was it a pedigree pooch or a working dog ?

She had a good life so. When my old Dixie died last year aged 15 for the first few mornings I came downstairs and opened the door to let her out. Funny how they become part of the family. Still though, I have a litter due in the next few days that Dixie will be their Great Grand dam.

Give her a shot of B12 and keep young dogs away from her that might suckle her and keep the milk flowing and she should get over it in a few weeks. Some bitches suffer a lot more than other and it can be a pain in the ass.

Fota Island I'm guessing you'd be coming over to a job you'll love no matter where in the world it was. For it to be a country you might fall in love with would be a bonus. Cork is a beautiful county and a very sporting one too with just one problem. It's full of Corkmen, LOL.

What age was she Daniel ? She looks old but I've seen old timers look grey beyond their years, I have one here.

Old cars, fresh food, looks like a good day.

In America the reason game cocks are euthanized is because they were going to be killed by being pierced with sharp spurs if they were used in cockfighting. Fair enough. The humane society kill them by giving them a lethal injection into the breast. The game cock dies peacefully. FFS DD educate yourself man.

Cumheryabastad- It's an old Irish word for an obedient dog.

I envy you living over there in Britain. We here in Ireland have a homelessness problem, unemployment, a housing crisis and a migrant problem. But ye lucky folk over there have problems such as those who might kill a fox by accident.

After being drained through the marrow was it the ladies stocking that gave it flavour, LOL, sorry but I think marrows are tasteless.

In the 90s there were probably fewer wheatens around than there had been for a lifetime but they probably as good as they were in the late 70s early 80s when competition was fierce. And thats because the lads who had them knew how to test and breed them. Then in the 00's they were worth a few pounds and the peddlers started churning them out. The funny thing is that most of these peddlers had dogs in the early 80s when competition was tough but they didn't take part back then. But after a few good articles by the likes of Springview etc. and the English wanting the Irish legend it was easier

they ain't kid killers, their just dog killers I wouldn't trust a wheaten around a child, unless in the last few years they've changed.

You mean to tell me there is actually a good reason to grow what is IMO the most tasteless vegetable there is ? That I'd like to see.

Night Out Shooting Cubs...

2 litters being reared side by side is not that uncommon and I'd say that's the case with the OPs first post. That's why I asked were the double figured litters all in the ground together. But when lads tell you about big numbers actually in the vixen then what more proof do you need ? It's an eye opener for me. -
Always expect the unexpected when it comes to terriers, LOL. It's easy to knock the stuffing out of them in this weather. They should lie quietly in their kennels 'till at least midday, LOL.

Badgers In Daylight
neil cooney replied to Squirrel_Basher's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
I was stopping one morning on the farm of the man who snares for the ministry in that area and I mentioned his farm was walking with badgers and how come he hadn't culled. He told me there was no need as his badgers were not a problem. I also know of large herds that are never shut down but the land has plenty of badgers and I know of farmers who are regularly shut down but have no badgers near them. I remember one farmer saying to me that he reckoned a milk tanker or a vet and his vehicle and equipment would cover more farms in a day than any badger could in a night. I also know a vet who -
If I lived over there I'd probably be on for it but would be a little wary that if it's a success the anti's would use them as an excuse to end deer stalking.

Badgers In Daylight
neil cooney replied to Squirrel_Basher's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
I agree that there is a link between Badgers and TB in cattle but in Britain where there's a massive Badger population even if 1 % of them were carriers there'd be a big problem. But here in Ireland where the Badger is rarer IMO it's not the Badger that's at fault. A lot of what you see and hear going on suggests there's a lot more to it and the Badger is the scapegoat. A lot of farmers agree with me. Another thing, with modern veterinary practices moving with the 21st century how come the test a vet does on cattle is 90 years old ????? That doesn't make sense surely. As far as I know t -

While on the subject, there's a documentary on SKY 1 at 9 on the dog family and tonight it's covering the foxes and wolves of North America so they'll have to cover the Red Fox. Last weeks show was very good.
