  1. People who are interested in hunting and it's history, that's who. Folk who take up hunting for two weeks before moving onto something else tend to not have any pride in it's history and tradition.
  2. Paul seen my first cross bitch out of the litter I mentioned that was bred in 90 and told me to name my price. I didn't sell. Paul had a massive reputation but a modest chap.
  3. There you go. Czarina I think her name was was a prominent brood who was a fighting dog cross and Fullerton was from her and is in the blood of every greyhound alive to this day. The question should be "when did the bull cross become popular ?". Ted Walsh has photos of Staff cross lurchers in his famous book from the 70s. However, a friend of mine bred a litter in 90 and out of 9 pups he put down 3 because everyone thought he was mad and the pups were not wanted. Two of the litter went to a lad who killed over 90 foxes with them in their first season and then everyone wanted them.. So IMO
  4. No need for apologies. At the end of the day conservation and all forms of hunting go hand in hand. Phil Drabble through his books showed us that by hunting we can also be the guardians of those animal we pursue. He always wrote plenty on the country characters who were adept at catching their quarry because they had studied their quarry. Men like Phil Drabble and Bert Gripton would turn in their graves if they seen the so called hunters who use gadgets to kill a lot of animals. They'd shake their heads in dis-believe if they seen the likes of night vision and electric fox callers. Rightly so.
  5. Like a good dark eye myself. Don't like to see any white around a terriers eye.
  6. Like it says, 70s maybe 80s. Plenty of Borders to be seen and much too pretty Jack Russells too. Personally I'd say it was the late 70's going by the old photos I've seen of Bert when he got older. Not really sure about Britain but the black terriers came to Ireland in the late 70s and even at shows in the late 80s you wouldn't see them, but remember just because there's no sign of a type at a show it doesn't mean it's not a worker, it just means it's not a shower.
  7. Phil Drabble was never an anti. He championed the working dog and the working dogman. Quiet rightly he had no time for the scumbags who destroyed it for all of us. In fact, he was a bit of a visionary.
  8. At long last thankfully someone has put up this old footage of one of the best so enjoy and a very Happy Christmas to all of you and your families. yours in sport, Neil.

  10. Cast iron, will never have a non stick pan again.
  11. Heard about the fire on the radio earlier. Sort of made me think about todays world when the newsreader said it wasn't known yet if any animals had died. He never mentioned human casualties !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Lee, it would be fantastic if this time next year you were posting on here saying how well those Borders were working, and they a present and not sold for stupid prices. It might teach a few of the peddlers and dreamers a lesson. Best of luck with them and I really hope they do their breeder and new owners proud.
  13. Went for the breakfast one morning and one of the lads ( 6' 5" 19 stone) ordered his breakfast and told the poor waitress not to bring his tea in a ball scalder. The waitress asked "what's a ball scalder ?" He said "one of those mugs you cant get a finger through the handle." He meant a tea cup.
  14. So who's the real ass here Jukel, LOL.
  15. Big big mistake GL. When you spoil a woman with such luxurious food as that there's no going back. From now on you will never make beans on toast or porridge ever again. Unless you want a divorce that is ????????
  16. I thought England always had a few Spoonbills ? A few years ago there was a Barred Kingfisher seen on the Irish west coast that must have been blown from North America on the gulf stream (it's not that uncommon for American species to be around Ireland's west coast) and it was in the national papers. Myself and the wife stayed in Mayo for a few days shortly after and I got talking to a local in a pub one night and the conversation was about shooting and wildlife etc. and he mentioned the American kingfisher. He told me that there was over 100 bird watchers with their cameras , binocu
  17. Haven't had a pickled egg in years. What spices or seasonings would you's recommend ?
  18. Nice pic MIK, no need to name the pack if you don't want but is it a registered pack ? They're very uniform in colour and markings. Nice music I hope.
  19. Pre ban ? In Ireland ? What Coursing lines is your bitch ?
  20. And as far as I'm told she never produced a pup.
  21. I don't care about other peoples opinions and I know that Psycho left a legacy behind him but that bitch there is the best that has ever had staff blood in her, and that includes all staffs.
  22. They might have gotta way with it if they'd used guns instead of guitars.
  23. He was an absolute gentleman of a dog Carlovian. He was originally called "Rocky My Dear" by TL but Ricky changed it to "Rocky Lee". I put Ricky in touch with D and we went over then to him with Rocky Lee and his daughter Noodles. A lovely bitch too. D told me that Rocky lived to be over 20. But while on the subject of dogs with Staff in them ? Do you remember RFCs "Jenny" AKA The black and tan Carlovian ? She was IMO without a doubt the best dog that ever lived that had staff blood in her. I was lucky enough to see her 3 times.
