    Back in the seventies two mates had Ibizans x whippet. One was not to bad on the lamp but she could sing for Wales when on a hare, but only the odd yap when on a rabbit. Not the brightest of dogs and pretty slow, looked like a light hound with the Ibizan head, most of her catches were pulled out of the hedges. The litter brother well what can I say except absolute rubbish, I think it only caught two rabbits in it's life. TC

    The big toe nail in an ingrowing one that I keep trimmed down with a nail clippers does not look pretty but does the job. I will go to the nurse tomorrow and she can rip it out for me, with the application of a little bit of local. TC

    Putting my joggers on this morning, half asleep I caught my little toe nail, when I finally got my foot though the leg I could see a Little bit of blood around the edges of the nail, I thought I had caught the quick and thought no more about it. This afternoon after work I dived in the bath and thought what the hell is that when I looked I had ripped the whole nail off its bed. Funny thing is it is not painful. TC

    Some of the smallest rabbits I have encountered have been off good arable land where they have been feeding off winter wheat. You would be lucky to get one over two pounds whole dead weight. They all look like August 3/4 grown rabbits. A mate gave me some rabbits years ago that he had caught up in Malham, I could not believe the size of them they were 3 1/2lb gutted huge rabbits. I remember talking to FJ Taylor about it and he told me of the biggest rabbit he had ever caught, and that was from the dales, It's front teeth had grown up through the rabbits head and it could not open it's mout

    Going to upset a few with these remarks, but it is how I have always felt so I make no apologies. Hunting, is for gathering food. Sport is when you hunt the inedible. In the past if you targeted an animal that was edible then any means was considered 'Fair game' as long as it got results. Where as with hunting for sport there were protocols that had to be adhered to. Of course there are exceptions to every rule and rats are an exception where any method is deem fair game.Now it seems the sporting aspect has all but gone.     Casso, I follow your posts because they make sense. However, I cannot see how hand feeding, will improve retrieving? I can see how it would make the pup come to you, but that is not retrieving really is it, if you cannot build a bond between youself and your pup without resorting to bribery? My mantra has always been if you can make yourself more attractive to a dog than any other option, your on a winner. I am sure that you have had great results using your methods.     power lines is right TC , i saw a fox on it this morning but it had only stripped the neck , when i returned 30 minutes later there were four magpies on it and they had really broken it up There was a line of pylons running along the seafront, after every storm you would see at least half a dozen dead gulls beneath it.     Your not allowed to shot waterfowl with lead. End of. TC you not allowed to shoot them with lead shot, single projectiles are exempt, but they make lead free pellets anyway. not saying its the right tool for the job but its not illegal and will do the job with the right calibre shooter News to me, but I will bow to your superior knowledge.
