A really interesting thread, does the boar taint affect bacon pigs? TC

Sadly it's too late for me now, as much as I love the breed, with my legs it would not be fair on the dog. My first one taught me a lot about dog training, even when I had been producing well trained dogs previously and thought I was the Dogs B. He soon brought me down to earth and made me rethink everything I had learned previously. I do not think the GWP cross will be for everyone, but if you can understand what makes a GWP tick, and how to work with that. Then the GWP X has a lot to offer. TC
-
My biggest regret dog wise is that I did not discover the GWP until I was in my late 40's. What a breed of dog, as said they can not only do the jobs but do them well. With my first one I had a bitch lined up for him and was going to keep a pup, but he contracted lungworm and had to be PTS at 4 year old, just coming into his prime. TC

The Raven and Heron are the earliest birds to breed every year. Both start in February, that is how Peregrines and ravens will share the same cliff, as the Peregrines do not lay until may and by then the young Ravens have fledged and left the area. TC

We often get Ravens on a pylon about 70 yards away from my house. Year before last we had six on there at the same time I suspect a pair and their brood Konking away. No zoom lens I am afraid. TC

I would not hold your breath, I remembered you telling me how moles came to be on an island in a dual carriageway, I did not know they could travel overland. But this may be giving away a little too much. TC They do get to the strangest of places. I had one on a lump of land I shoot over. 4K acre of steep fell and moorland. Locked in at the foothill by a canal and river ( flood basin inbetween). Various moorland streams cutting their way down the fell on all sides. The old boy had never had a mole in the 65 years he owned the farm and never had one since. My only thought is it hitched

As I have said before I have never trapped a mole and have no inclination to do so. That said, moles fascinate me, maybe it is because, mole hills and surface runs apart they are largely invisible. Questions pop into my mind and even though I can guess a scenario of what the answers are I am never sure. Questions like, one mole in a walled churchyard with roads all around the walls? Possible answer dropped by a fox/cat or even dropped by a crow / seagull? Why are the road verges only used in the winter? Possible answer because they are too dry during the summer? But one thing I though

If your a registered fisherman and a seal is on your nets you can legally shoot it. They are a very intelligent animal and it does not take them long to work out a free meal. When I was long lining for bass with live mackerel they would swim round looking for your buoys then strip the line of the mackerel. It got so bad that we would use very small buoys that would only show at low & high water a pain in the arse. Drift netting was the same they would patrol a drifting net and take out the bass as they hit the net and leave the mullet. One night when we pulled a net there was the head

Thats the problem, I have been eating 2 meals and a cheese board in the evenings. I normally only eat one meal in the evening 6 - 7pm and a snack during the day. I just do not feel hungry in fact the thought of food is turning me off my cider. TC

Is anyone else sick of eating? I don't eat a lot, but this week of being stuffed to the gills with rich food has now put me off eating. I have not eaten today and truth be told do not feel like eating. Anyone else feel the same? TC

If I had to use only one word to describe this lens....hhmmm....i'd say 'Crap'. ha ha I have owned one of these and i tried my best , but you're struggling with a very slow lens, and the day is cloudy then you're going to have to whack that ISO right up. Only thing is, unless your body is high spec then the pics will be as grainy as hell. Obviously, I might well be wrong. I've been serious on wildlife/hunting photos for a great many year now. I've probably got the largest portfolio of lurcherwork photos in the whole wide world,I've tried all the short cuts .But, I have to say, ha

Seems every one is in an advice giving mode. What does the panel of experts think to this lens for the price for a canon 600d? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-75-300mm-f-4-0-5-6-III-Lens-Model-6473A015-/121838895322?hash=item1c5e2a00da:g:wDEAAOSwf-VWbGX- TC
