Not great when that happens but atleast it never dragged you under. This is what I mean about not throwing all your dosh at it when its not a dead cert of a return. At That point in time it was a dead cert, if it was not for the tip off to hold back a little, we probably would have gone ahead. I am grateful for the tip off but 2 years later he retired and decided he would do their ironing, bas*ard! TC

I have been self employed, well more of a sole trader since 1978. about 12 years ago the wife and myself bought a small Ironing business. Things were going well and we talked about expanding into premises instead of working from home and out saucing the work we could not cope with. One of our clients was a bank manger with Lloyd's, talking one day he asked how the business was going and I told him of our plans. Straight away he told me, be careful, things are not going to stay like this I can see a slump coming and it is not going to be nice. That was enough to put doubt in our minds,

No idea why I'm bothering as you've obviously not read that other bits but here goes...... If I didn't have the capital id need to go to the bank.( nowhere have I said this is wrong previously). Before I went to the bank is need to iron out a deal with the client that I could be paid upfront for some materials, possibly working on a monthly basis arrangement. Then I'd need to speak to wholesalers who would allow me credit in accordance with how I will be paid for the job. If all the boxes are ticked I go to the bank and get a loan and get an agreement on paying it back. If all goes well I

Lab, you get offered a big contact that will make you a lot of money. Do you say No, I do not have the capital for the outlay? Or do you go to the bank and borrow the investment you need? TC
  7. The last time I went to the cinema to watch a film it was KES. It broke my heart, so I have not been since. TC
  8. 100% agree with you about Nels0n, 6z is not too bad in 4.25" & 4.5" mesh but in 4" it is not really suitable for catching rabbits. BTW it was not a seller beginning with the letter J that you bought off was it? TC
  9. Not disputing the quality of Nels0n's nets but 4z will out catch 6z any day of the week. Anyone who actually thinks that 6z is the best netting for catching rabbits has a lot to learn. That is a fact. BTW Nels0n also sells 4z in 4.25" mesh now that is a killing net. TC

  12. Yep, Summer rabbiters, people taking huge numbers, not to mention VHD it all adds up. We have myxi every year, but they always seem to breed well enough through the Summer. Two years ago we had VHD go through and they have just not recovered. Hardly a rabbit here now. TC

Nice little write up, the amount of rabbits does not matter, the fact that you were out and doing a bit is all that counts. TC

  22. The first lamp I had was off a Morris Oxford the spot had a chrome nipple in the middle of the glass and the bulb was elongated and fitted right up to the centre of the chrome nipple. That lasted years until lamping under the influence and fell and smashed the glass to smithereens. I then used those square Brittax lamps for a few years. Then bought my first blue eye, I don't know if anyone remembers them they looked like a small frying pan and were only 50,000 CP. One thing they were good at was cutting through mist, no bounce back at all. When the sealed beam went on that it was almost cheape
