  1. LC can you explain why you tie your bagging in at the pole? I tie the bagging in halfway between the poles on the top line to stop the bagging travelling all the way down to the poles ending up with a taut net stretched from one pole and all the net gathered at the next pole Y.I.S Leeview
  2. most of the propriety brands of wax can be thinned with white spirits, but be warned it will slow the drying time. After 3-4 coats of wax go over the surface with a hairdrier and then buff it up Y.I.S Leeview ps checkout Morrell's long established Co. that carries a vast amount of useful products that other Co. cant be bothered with
  3. Beeswax/Colron/Briwax are all good finishes, but strongly reccomend a sealer for the 1st coat white polish if you want a natural/light colour button polish if you want a warmer colour, which ever you use thin it down 50-50 to seal the wood just brushing with the grain. Its quick drying and can be denibbed within an hour, wipe the dust off and apply the wax leave to dry and buff it up old towelling is great for this and repeat the waxing, if you want a really nice finish get some TROLLUL 0000 wire wool (not silver fleece)make a pad by wrapping it around your hand and work with the grain from one
  4. 1 I have the cord runs inside the leather work down to a brass bar that holds the pin which when pulled releases 1 side of the collar just like the coursing slip lead does Y.I.S Leeview
  5. Do you mean the slip lead where the cord fits over your wrist and you hold the wooden toggle? releasing the toggle to slip the dog Y.I.S Leeview
  6. I remember talking to an old chap over 30 years ago who used to run in the rabbit matches with whippet types pre war and was told by him ireish terreir was a popular dog to use Cj I doubt a bedlington would have a wiry coatIMHO, the Irish terrier or even the wire haired Fox Terrier would of been a better bet and both breeds would of been a lot different to todays examples of the breed Y.I.S Leeview
  7. Does he wear nail polish?cos he always has them gloves on Y.I.S Leeview
  8. Over here pre ban coursing greyhounds were tested at the semi final stage of any stake with £500 or more on offer to the winner, (these were urine samples and it could cost upwards of £240 to have the labs test them)the prize money was with held until the results were back. This was only for banned substances. After a run the dogs feet were checked over and cleaned, electrolites were freely given and the dog bedded down (not unknown for OXYGEN to be inhaled through a mask)to await its next run or taken back to kennels if not needed till the following day Y.I.S Leeview
  9. Coursing was done with the landowners permission. The issues you mention are brought about by people with no permission to be on the land, the landowners/farmers dont want them on their land "trespassing in search of game" So Coursing gets blamed again Y.I.S Leeview
  10. How many convictions has there been for coursing since the ban? Doubt you would need the fingers on both hands to answer that, because these "operations" to clamp down on illegal coursing is to raise the public into thinking its working BUT cases are brought to court on "trespass in search of game" but would that sound as good to the public NO IMHO. Every Coursing card stated by kind permission of.........the landowner and neighbours therefore the club had permission to run the meeting, so anyone going back at a later day who did nt have the landowners consent were "trespassing in search of g
  11. You say coursing meetings were easy for the anti's????? in over 28yrs sometimes coursing 4-5days a week throughout the season in all the years I only ever saw anti's at the Waterloo Cup and the Greyhound 2000 Festival and you only got the antis on the first day on the Withens. Why? because the tv crews were there for that day not the 2nd or 3rd day so no publicity for them Y.I.S Leeview
  12. if coursing was still legal, i would like to think that the same protection would have been afforded by the police, however unless it was a large club i just dont think it would ever have happened, the police react to publicity in the same way as politicians, revel in the good stuff and hide from the bad, the problem i have with all this them and us bollocks is, faced with the ban the hunts adapted and continued indeed they are now flourishing, the coursing boys did nothing!! yet 8 years later are now in shock about the fact the hunts are now pretty much left alone and the attention is now on
  13. The NCC looked at muzzling a few years before the ban as a last resort. An 8dog stake was put on to be run with greyhounds muzzled I was the slipper and after 3 slips the stake was halted as the greyhounds were battering the hares into the ground unable to get a grip on them and that was the end of that idea Y.I.S Leeview
  14. This side of the water(it may be different in Eire)the tennant can appoint a person to control the vermin(NOT GAME) as that will be in his tennancy agreement Y.I.S Leeview
  15. Will these hares be released in a reserve? Done a lot over here but always in daytime, driving them between flanks and through a hedge into maybe 200-600yds of nets Pre ban, a great way to spend a Sunday morning Y.I.S Leeview
  16. "rabbits were classed as game at night" rabbits have always been game if you dont have the land owners permission day or night Y.I.S Leeview
  17. Well bud its like this: A wise man speaks because he has something to say and a fool speaks because he has to say something Y.I.S Leeview
  18. Cant recall ever in my life where I would put up with a persistant biter no matter how good you claim it is? So what are you going to do with this hob when you get your uncles hob? Y.I.S Leeview
  19. the LAW was rescinded about 4yrs back so no longer an option Y.I.S Leeview
  20. I bought one on ebay when they first came out,U-caller? made in Northern Ireland brilliant piece of kit BUT the paperwork states its illegal to call animals in to kill them, ideal for wildlife photography LOL Y.I.S Leeview
  21. Believe it or not I use the handle of a cricket bat with the bat stuck in a vice. this allows the spool to rotate around the bat handle. TC the bat being horizontal rather than vertical Y.I.S Leeview
  22. This is the mould which everyone since, it seems, has tried to put back together, by plagiarism. This was the (Post Modern) 'The Book' for Ferreters. Anything before those is now into the realms of Book Collectors material.Though, Fred J. Taylor may be worth checking out? Anything since ....? I've struggled to find anything I wouldn't sling in the stove. The top link was the ferreters "bible" wrote by people (one is a vet) who knew and understood ferrets, working, breeding and feeding.Although it does nt mention dry food mmmmmm Y.I.S Leeview
  23. pipa's snowed under, so what about the other 2 people you know? and theres loads of people that can do them? your quote from yesterday on the calibration thread If its that easy why dont you do them yourself and pass the savings on to the lads? Y.I.S Leeview
  24. I bought his quickset after seeing most of the other suppliers quicksets that were out at the time and his ticked all the boxes, true they are not as cheap as others but I rate goods by quality not price Y.I.S Leeview
