I only use 1 3/4 inch board for my nets using spun poly and double knott them all and one of the lads bought some nets off ebay they were ok for small holes but not even a meter about 70cm at best but there is some at a meter for 22.50 I mean it really is for nothing the nylon ones are 18 and are a load of sh@t I use 21/4" as it suits me to chin the rabbit in the net. I'll say it before anyone else does "you never go looking in the net bag for a small net always a big net"+"you can put a big net on a small whole BUT you cant put a small net on a big hole" Y.I.S Leeview

. Max not being rude but No hunt has packed in in fact a couple have started up. One step at a time bud there working on it My point being is that Yes Hunts are ok but Nothing being done to reinstate Coursing. Coursing to rules with Greyhounds was the Only fieldsport were the aim was NOT to kill the quarry and its Banned ffs coursing should be reinstated but would have to be controlled with rules and a closed season. but the cowboys would just fcuk it up They was always a Coursing Season and Rules to Coursing with Greyhounds. It was always Illegal to Course Hares on a Sunday, a

I make all the nets starting at 8 then increase each side every other row untill I have 18 loops, 3rows at 18 then back down to 8, 23 rows on a 21/4" meshboard gives me a 551/2"(4'71/2) net,add the rings and it measures over 571/2"(4'91/2") Taking hold of the net half way down pulling apart until the rings touch I'll still have a couple of meshes in either hand, these nets weigh 40g in spun poly Y.I.S Leeview

At £2 per net can you break that down into what costs what? Spun poly is easily obtainable for £8.95 a spool( sizes do vary upto 600g+in some cases) X12 nets @75p ea in twine a couple of rings from 6p ea last time I bought some, draw cord 3yds say 30p. Obviously your time does nt come anywhere near minimum wage Y.I.S Leeview

The lad that bred the dog in my avatar, had an exceptional working hob it was 8yrs old when a keeper asked if he could bring a jill to be lined by the hob, sure enough the jill was brought to the hob and said "he'd be back in the morning to pick her up" the jill was dead the following morning and half eaten. Are these turbines proposed to be on the Withens and Lydiate fields (that the Waterloo Cup actually ran on)or just in that general area? the 2 fields were rented from the Leverhulme estate by Nick Reed-Herbert from Newmarket to graze his sheep on and keep the grass in pristine condition,Are they still grazed? The whole estate along with the 2 mentioned above Engine Lane,The Thorns and Carr Lane are very much peat land so much so you could feel the ground move when the dogs were going up the field. They will obviously have to have some serious foundations to build a turbine on that land that -
well where to start,Sunday was much busier numbers wise. The sun shone all day but a breeze was trying its best to spoil the day, plenty of interest from both youngsters and the older generation as you would expect in Lincolnshire.3 of these youngsters have been offered 1 to 1 lessons on netmaking and a days ferreting next month, The ferrets drew them in even when they were asleep people were coming up to see what was in the pen. A group of travellers were very keen on what we had on the stand but left with nothing TWICE. the double plus was several inquiries for the services of the ferrets to c

This weekend 28/29th at the Lincolnshire Showground The 1st Lincolnshire Game Fair is being held and I'll be there showing how I make my nets.If your going feel free to call in and have a chat,it is reasonably priced at £7 to get in Y.I.S Leeview

When ferreting we use long/stop nets, if a ferret comes out I leave it to make its own way over the set, if its going away I just scratch my over trousers and the ferret turns and comes to me,I was taught silence is a virtue when working a set. Y.I.S Leeview
-
at 5yds apart you need 11 poles for a 50yd net roughly, there will be times when more will be needed Y.I.S Leeview
-
You can buy cheap nets or you can buy the materials and kit to make your own. The cheap nets are just that The ones you make are yours alone, you made them and nothing beats the satisfaction of catching a rabbit in them 111% Y.I.S Leeview
