  1. You're wrong there. it's not just about price, it's about how you come across, what you say and how you act. And...not everyone can catch moles...
  2. Hi guys. Is this website a genuine company or just another one that;'s set up to rip people off? Thought I'd ask before I took the plunge ,.Thanks
  3. The thing is; it doesn't matter how many part-timers come into it, those experienced trappers that are good will always be very busy.... And a year later, when those lads have tried to make a living trapping, given up and are now gardeners, or sheep shearers or window cleaners, things will still go along as normal. I don't think the internet has done mole trappers any favours, but hey-ho.
  4. Don't put your ferret in a cage, it will fret and move back and forth, the dog will pick up the signals and it will have the opposite effect. Show him the ferret in your hand, in a 'calm' environment. At first.
  5. Never mix food and retrieving. And IMO that age is too young for retrieving ...but thats JMHO...
  6. Top pics JD Any robins? TUFFTY Aye.....had a few...nice softbill they are and they either hit it off, or not. They're not like your average bird where you can chuck a boy and a girl together and hey presto, they're playing happy families. No, if the hen bird don't like what she see's then she won't tolerate him anywhere near her. Then again, put another suitor in and she's as gentle as a lamb! That's the thing that has to be understood with them and it can only be understood by spending a hell of a long time sat in front of the aviary watching. Just watching. And watching some mo
  7. Well, they were pretty easy really, but they were as steady as they were every going to be. The hen built four times and laid four each time, and the day the first one hatched she threw them all out of the nest. She was a typical female...just crazy!
  8. The thing is; buy quality. Forget those cheep rattle-box imports and pick something solid. Don't forget, quality only hurts the wallet once and you can always sell the gun if you need to. I would rather have a second hand gun of a good pedigree than a brand new shiny eastern import..... There's always a reason why something's cheap...
  9. I've tried BB with a cheapo UV torch and that was just the same...
  10. I spent a bleedin fortune last year, the torch and everything, it was meant to go rock hard after 30 secs with the torch, but still tacky. I was a bit disappointed if I'm honest.....
  11. What do you think to the DC? I have experimented with UV and it's been a bit hit and miss, the tack levels seem to stay high?
  12. It's a funny old job, and obviously now all in the past, BUT, I would always wonder really, what is the rush. Let a pup be a pup, it's got the rest of it's life to be a legend...... :victory:
  13. In the olden days, i would say put some decent grease on the spring.....
  14. It's as much as what a man will do with a failure, as what a man will do with a worker that's made the grade.
  15. The problem is, really, just WHO can you trust to give a pup to? There's that many lads that are simply not to be trusted; selling, breeding, lying, scheming...and all for money. That's why some like to keep things real tight....
  16. Very nice......I've had a nightmare bluing this 77 of mine...I might have to enlist your help!
  17. They were in a large aviary with a stream running through it. In flights that were 8ftX 3 ft X 6ft. they need ground cover for nesting, but I have had them go down in nest baskets too, which is unusual. Lots and lots of livefood needed before they come into true condition.
  18. I only ever shoot .177, it's a calibre I've used exclusively for all my hunting for the last quarter of a century.... A .22 offers absolutely no benefit over the .177, unless a person isn't accurate. JMHO>
