  1. Rabbitskin....dried. But before any 'retrieving' is done you want to ensure that the dog 's recall is 1,000,000% bang on, or you're just wasting your time IMO> Good Luck....

So change the record will ya....... it's getting Bawring
  11. Aye, i've found mallards in some crazy places over the years. The thing with the females camouflage is that she seems to blend in no matter where she lays! I've found mallard nests a long way from any water, the duck must do well to lead her ducklings on a long march to the nearest water, but it's amazing how she knows where it is.... A great nesting spot and I hope none of he babies fall down the grates,.....
  12. If you're right handed and your left eye is dominant, like myself, then you will find it much harder to shoot a bow, or catapult, instinctively. How many people know how to test what eye is dominant?
  13. Thats the thing Matt, I think some organisation or other would take the case on as a 'test' case. They could possibly prove an animal to have been drown, but i doubt if they could prove intent. As for high/low water mark, setting too high up would surely cause the trap to be away from the minks 'run' and therefore would stop being effective in regards that the trap siting would be far too high up the bank for a mink to see it? Is there any organisation actually on the side of the trapper that is trying to get such things clarified?
  14. It sure is a funny one. The reason why American trappers use a drowning line is because they want their animal dead ASAP. And, to be fair, it would stop any animal suffering if there was a foul catch. What is best; said animal going into the water and being killed within a matter of twenty seconds, or one sat therein the trap and, possibly, waiting 23 hours? The law's crazy in this country...
  15. Aye nest underground in short rabbit stops....Though i'd imagine there'd be chicks about now..
  16. OK Matt, worst case scenario....you set a trap, in a correct position. Everythings legal. it's on a wire into the water. BUT the mink (or whatever quarry) is 'foul' caught, not a perfect kill as can happen from time to time. So it's a pad catch or some other bad catch. And it gets into the water and it actually drowns. Obviously it's all over in less than thirty seconds. But, the facts are it's drown. How would you stand then? I don't want to play devil's advocate, but i think working on worst case scenario is always best...
  17. That's what I mean...is it illegal to provide this means to reach water to the animal trapped. I.e, by allowing the mink to reach water, albeit in it's death throws, are you commiting an offence? I've spoken to alot of people lately and no one seems to come up with an definite answer....
  18. I am not talking about 'acidents' or long cables, i mean the legalities, of an actual set, the wording of the law. it goes without saying that a drowning set is a very quick death and if there's any life at all left in a quarry species (mink) then it will be soon extinguished. Does anyone know the exact legalities of it all?
  19. Wall, boundary where two hedges meet, where there's a bottleneck between two patches of cover.
  20. I think there's a difference...in between a person actually drowning a squirrel (when there are other forms of dispatch) and one thats dying convulsions take it into water.? maybe?
  21. What are the legalities of using a drowner for mink, purely to get the animal out of the way of human eyesight. Is it legal or not?Would it be legal if the animals dying convulsions took it down the cable?
  22. I took this piccy of a lapwing the other day as it flew past....great colours...
