    Hi Carlos, you need to have a Firearms Licence and, of course, permission from the landowner. There is no state-owned public land hunts available over here. But Essex is full of deer, so you live in a good area. Try a post in the deer stalking section on here or register at The Stalkers Directory and I'm sure someone will give you a morning out. Just do not get drawn into paying too much money for stalking as there are some unscrupulous sharks in the stalking game in the UK. Welcome to our country, hope you enjoy yourself.

    Its more about the captive bred bird finding food sources at the correct time of year. The wild birds are programmed to go from one seasonal source to the next. For example now the Bullys are on the hawthorn buds, in a months time they will be on a different bud, then as summer goes, it will be berries, the honeysuckle, then onto the rowan. They move with the food, and i think letting a captive bred bird go wild is akin to murdering it by starvation. Don't forget birds do not think or reason like humans.     That's the thing with dogs; you give them your all and they break your heart. I've had plenty of failures, and the ones that made the grade ended up dead through trying hard when out in the field. There's nothing you can do about it, just soldier on. One things for sure; the life of a working lurcher, and its owner, rarely has a fairytale ending. Onwards, ever onwards. :victory:

    To be honest, I don't know if the pic of the goose is in the book, I do get forgetful at times. But , there's still enough retrieve pics. But i posted a goose retrieve here anyway....just to make sure there's no misunderstanding! :victory:

    I love threads like this. Nature is great! I don't think the pic below the bittern is a deer bed,I think it is a marking scrape that has been made by a deer. Though I've been wrong before.
