  1. can depend on how much bull or beddy is in the mix
  2. Yeah this is her at 7 weeks, she will be 10 weeks now.
  3. Whats the problem? Mine are soft as muck, thats how you want them! Just wait till its entered, then its instinct will kick in it prob me its like she is not bothered. i brought her up from 5 weeks old and dont see no change. she will not leave my side. Thats great that she is by your side all the time! I wish mine were! Honestly I wouldnt worry about it at all, once you get it out and show her quarry, all will become clear... good luck

  5. Sounds like a sad state of affairs. On here you will find many folk who keep proper Russel type terriers. Bred for work, as they always were, no bullshite registered crap or kennel club papers, they dont mean shit im afraid.
  6. I have a good bitch that rarely takes any stick, worth her weight in gold mate... can dig to her more often than my other terriers.
  7. If the shoot insisted on tradition then I would concede that you should oblige......and use it as a great opportunity to explain to the wife you have to go and buy another shotgun ! I suppose, if the shoot previously insisted upon traditional shotguns only, i would oblige...but begrudgingly!
  8. I only use a semi-auto nowadays... as i cant be arsed keeping loads of guns, one for every job... just got the one shotgun, a five shot. And if im going to get turned away from a day for having it, then id rather not be there to be honest. Mine has a sling, so it goes over the shoulder when not in use, and the breech will have a cartridge jammed in like Rizla said, so its easy to see that its not loaded. This year ive shot partridge and grouse so far and never had any bother off the snotties ...I only ever have 2 cartridges in at a time though LOL
  9. Got a pup here that looks identical, its uncanny! Mines a lurcher though.
  10. If you come south of the border you could follow the Newcastle and District Beagles, they hunt all around the area up to the border. A great pack by any standards.
  11. Im regularly in the Brampton area, there are loads of Roe, and the very odd Red about the area. Thats it.
  12. I used to leave all my dogs in the same shed as the hens and ducks all day long, the poultry and dogs would wander the farm yard and I never had any bother at all. If any dog is bad with stock, its down to the handler 100%, and the breed is irrelevant as well. Another thing is that you wont keep your permision long if any of your dogs are seen worrying livestock. The terriers need to be 100% around all stuff... otherwise you will never have it off the lead. Its not hard to bring a terrier up to be solid as a rock around stock, so theres no excuses at all.
  13. Well you couldnt be more wrong mate! If you bring them up among livestock and poultry, or otherwise go out of your way to train them, then you will never have any issues at all, with any terrier or breed or dog. Ive always been lucky enough to have livestock and poultry about the place, so the pups just accept them from the word go, and not much training is needed.
  14. Good stuff Wilf , I cant wait until my wee'un is a bit older, I bet its a great feeling sharing these persuits with them. Mine is often out with me for short spells in the backpack, and he is never quieter lol, he loves being out watching the dogs and the wildlife.
  15. Love the good wheaten's, thanks for sharing lads, im glad there are some decent lines still going that havent been wrecked by the show lot. Are wheaten's commonly dog aggresive? Even if well socialised? And, if so, does this trait pass into the weaten lurchers, as im contemplating a wheaten cross in the future when my bull is passed his best.... mainly for a better coat as the bull suffers in harsh weather. all the best DnN
  16. That operation was a well executed bit of essential pest control, wiping out a non-native species, just before it was too late. Good on them I say:victory: In Scotland, or at least, the Highlands, in many areas, the plant-life has been decimated to a massive extent by the huge numbers of deer, and its plain to see their numbers are far too high. Where I lived in invernesshire we were restricted to the ammount we could take off the hill per outing as it was so rugged, although we used ponies and boats to bring the carcasses back, we could never kill more than 2 big stags, or 4 hinds/calves
  17. Its great to be out in this winter weather with the dogs, looks like you all had a great day. Nice pics too Hi Warren, the pack is looking well is that one of the pups behind you on the first pic? All the best DnN
  18. yeah, they are more than welcome lol.... I remember one year a good 10+ years ago, when an anti turned up to the boxing day meet.... he got out of his vehicle(a proper tree hugging looking fecker too), held his big red banner up and started shouting, as everyone turned to look at him, he got back into his vehicle and sped off!!! Only one ive seen unfortunately, was a great laugh!!
  19. The place was alive with the signs of the previous nights fox activity.... shame the land didnt have more earths, but we struck good with the cold snap, and made a keeper very happy. The terriers and me had a good day, cheers for the invite If you would like to accompany BFTB's and me when we are on a small shoot near mine, there are a few foxes avoiding the lamp and snare, and need accounting for before christmas preferably.
