    just a question for ultimathule, what parents did dave platt use to breed that 9th generation pup,a real cracker,if the sire was saracen he will have some metal in him atb

    i wouldnt bother going out lamping rabbits on a clear still moonlight night, all you will achieve are lamp shy rabbits,hard mouthed dogs due to rabbits not being dazzled enough by lamp, also can encurage dogs to run on there noses,rather than watch the lamp, not saying you wont catch rabbits, but hard work on dogs,,give me a good windy dark night any time,just my opinion and yes ican see where a lot of the lads are coming from,been there and done it.

    am i right but is that not now 2 field sport companies,packed up in the past few months,the other one being arthur carter,any body know the reason why,both long well established firms seems a great shame,thinking it must be to do with more internet shopping.

    every lurcher i have had,i took them out with the gun from very young pups,started with 410 and then to 12 bore,started on rabbits then to pheasants,the best i had for this work,were the bedlingtonx, and the bull cross hunt and retrieved as good as any gundog, but still trained them to do all the work that lurchers should do wonderful dogs

    what year were these pole cats released iknow afew lads on the island who have hunted for years,say they never heard of pole cats being released,as regards controlling rabbits the manx goverment used pay a fifty pence bounty on the tails but stopped in the early nineties.rabbits pretty scarce there now.

    carl williams a well known name from the past,remember his ad in the 1980 editions of the old shooting news areal great read in its time,heard very little of carl for agood few years now,used to use astud dog by the name of bow if memory is right,ibelieve this dog produced some good stock,may be somebody still runs some of the old blood lines,havent seen or heard of him or any litters since those days. atb in your search and hope you get lucky.

    HAD DOG OUT FOR FEET RUN EARLY THIS MORNING GOT ON A LONG EAR, GOOD RUN AND PERFORMANCE FROM DOG,BUT IT TOOK HIM UP AROUGH AND SLATEY TRACK NEEDLESS TO SAY WHEN HE CAME BACK FEET, STOPPERS, AND PADS BADLY TORN AND RIPPED,CLEANED HIM UP PUT PURPLE SPRAY,AND GREEN OIL GEL ON WOUNDS,ANY OTHER THINGS YOU LADS USE WHEN THIS HAPPENS .CHEERS

    hunted and met a lot of old characters,just watched, listened and learnt to their yarns ways and wisdom of the countryways, learnt more from them than any book could ever tell you,all getting lost now should all be writen down and recorded for prosperity,sadly characters are fast dissapearing in all walks of life,i firmly believe characters were born out of poverty and hardship which is not like it used to be hence lack of characters,alot of the old boys had nothing but were content with their lot,aslong as they could hunt, keep dogs ,ferrets,have ajar a pipe of baccy they were happy long liv

    lovely strong looking pup,a credit to you, but just a question,why put fell hound in it,alright plenty of stamina and strength,but do they not become vocal,when hunting prey,not a dig mate but never seen one work so just interested atb.

    dsfinetly thinking about insuring the dogs this winter,read on this forum that pet plan is one of the better ones,what would nfu mutual be like,heard good reports,just been hit with a good bill from vets,so going to invest in some insurance

    my mistake commanchee,yes the virus wasfirst reported in south america in1898,afew many years later in the 50sparts of australia experimented with the virus,in 1952, the retired french pyscian m.armand delillie,innoculated 2 rabbits with the mxy virus obtained from switzerland, ayear later it was in britain, and was spread deliberately and stilll is,also in those days people if proven to do this could be fined 20pound first offence 50 second offence,cruel disease and public say its cruel to kill and hunt them the way we do a load of shite.

    up to afew years ago,every body was saying that the rabbits were becoming immune to mxy,but all of a sudden again there are diffrent strains of the disease appearing all over the country,now dont forget this is a manmade diseasemade by a french doctor in the early 1950s,so after all these years,how does i the virus still withstand severe winters and sub zero temperatues,i am still agreat believer that the disease virus is still being deliberately spread in certain areas,back about 7yrs ago ,myself and a mate caught 2 black rabbits with a ginger tinge to there coats just behind there ear and o

    great pictures,nice to see the owls still about,my favourite was always the barn owl.wonderful to watch them hunting in day light,still hear tawnys in the woods round us,found a dead little owl afew months ago .lying at the foot of a dry stone wall,hopefully on the come back.

    always a few killed on the roads round us, all types of sizes and colours and a good few polecats included, most of them will be out of stock that blokes have abandoned while hunting,or just got fed up and let them go,still suprisiingly there are still a good few rabbits about.

    yes i had a white young hob that used to use its nest box as a toilet,never seen or owned another one like it,stuck with it for about a year,even made the sleeping quarters smaller,never stopped it,needless to say we parted company,the dirtiest ferret i ever bought in,dont know were its litter mates the same.

    Just a question, does dave platt ever breed pure bred deerhounds or does he just use them as his breeding stock,dont know what strain he has now,is it still the ardingklass strain,seen some good stuff come from his kennels.

    try having a quiet word with the farmer,as you have been on this permission for a good while, and im certain you respect it,had a similiar thing some years ago,might take a little while to get back on land,but hes had abad deal with these other lads,pretty sure the farmer will come round given time.atb

    cracking pictures looks like the dogs really enjoying it,like it should be in summer time,love the jelly fish,looks like the portuguese man of war,used to be loads round on the beaches where i live.
