  1. Just as a matter of interest mate ,where did you get it from .Pm if preferred .
  2. Weathers getting colder here now so will see a few more to ground
  3. I have to agree mate .I went through a stressy time with the early Wheeler stuff and would not want that again. This whole thread seems to be based on macho dogs not fit for purpose .Every pat type has bull in it from the dawn of its creation so why add more just because you can .
  4. By a good un I guess you mean a good digging dog?, afraid to say "if" you've a good digging dog, bolts are few & far between. You lot are so narrow minded its laughable, cowardice this, jacket that, lol #ivasupermultitool What that means mate is that despite using a digging dog there will be bolts .Narrow mindedness is what shapes a tool . Multi tools are found wanting when needed .I've got no problem with the concept of a bolter just don't mix it with a real one .last post lol
  5. Which is why we will never agree on anything mate .I can shoot more foxes in a winter with the rifle than you can ever bolt but choose not to ,why because to me a terrier is more than a second rate bushing tool .Its good to have discussion but not to value failure in my eyes .This will rage on ,has been done to death so ill comment no more.
  6. if that spanner bends to the will of a fox its no good to anyone Edited to say there are enough bolts with a good un without feeding a jacker.
  7. Somethingdogey here mate .Won't let you see before you part with money .Sounds like a con to me .Good luck either way mate .
  8. Can't speak for every type of "bolter"but from what I've seen they are born of the type that rush in tarry a bit and bay then retreat when foxy wants to bring the fight to him .Over time the terrier stops tarrying and flying in and results to baying a good way off and avoiding the sharp end , letting charlie have the freedom of his domain to bolt at will coming out often to praise from owner .Personally I hate cowardise in any form of life therefore to me these have no place in my world .I agree they have a place especially in hunt service but its not what I personally would look to keep and
  9. Forgot about the tag bit .We moan but we really are spoilt here compared to that I suppose .Do some states allow lamping though ,for coyotes etc .Are pest species regulated too Rich do you know .I know in Florida you can buy pigs by the day .Bought one when I was there few years back but had my wallet nicked at animal kingdom and never went back .
  10. ............That's when the work started .Lovely buck mate and nice backdrop late evening .Congrats .
  11. You ever been there with terriers mate .
  12. Never get my head around that either .There is no management plan ,in those short weeks if it fits it dies .Is there a shortage over there of quarry or does the wildlife dep keep short seasons to minimise human disturbance to areas .must be good to bow hunt though .
  13. Thanks again mate and thanks for letting me join in on the gralloch lol.The lamping made up for any injustice deer wise with a new personal best
  14. Rats are omnivorous .You never trapped a rat in a tunnel and been left with a skin and tail by morning .We used to have a dead pit one place i worked and nothing lasted long .Good place to start a terrier.
  15. Squirrels never have hibernated .They make the most of winter sun.Better start a biggest squirrel thread Jonno .
  16. i used to save a LOT of wings tails and skins up all year and sell them in one go to a well known supplier and that paid for my 10 days at the end of the season.. phesant tail feathers were a right money spinner! we used to crate birds up in bread crates and i used to go along and pluck the 2 center tail feathers out of each bird and would have 2-400 tail feathers at the end of a good week and at 5p each like ladder traps with jackdaws i could catch 3-500 for a couple of weeks and thou it was a dirty job i could get nearly a £1 a jackdoor for wings and scalps...crow,magpie wings magpie tai
  17. Mate dont mess about with this and that ,take dog to vets before you get it .
  18. Good to bag a few like that ,Nice shooting mate .
  19. Out ratting ,we had a dog run into a metal shed leg that was jagged suffice to say it lacerated the dogs chest .One of the lads picked up a handful of chicken shit and packed the wound and applied pressure until it got to the vets .This saved the dogs life ,vet said as it had nicked an artery ,Whilst not advocating shit as a wound pack ,everything has to be done to stop the bleeding as death is not too far away when blood flows freely . First rate post that Bryan mate .
  20. Dry cow tubes of metacam for the worst but salt water for the run of the mill .I tend to clean a day later when all dirt comes off with fresh scab unless it warrants immediate attention .Nice to see peoples first reaction is not meds as its easy to rely on them and dogs system gets used to it so when it is needed its not as effective .
  21. Spot on mate .Good to be in harmony with our canines isnt it .
  22. The jabs are in two parts for a reason ,used the self meds in the past but now pay .There is a reason they are kept in a fridge .
  23. Never pull a dog out by its tail mate .Can cause spinal injuries .Use both legs held together and guide it out . Cracker of a dog any way .
