  1. Im guessing its munties you are calling and roe doe thats barking .Any alarm call is best moved away from imo except in the rut .If its a muntie barking at you however then i would stay as she may have a buck in tow at any one time .Just nice to see though mate .Call in a different place .
  2. Bluebells everywhere here mate ,Any rolling scuffing or footprint stands out a mile but nothing .We looked again yesterday morning with the neighbouring farmer involved too although a bit strained .Hes a bit off with whats occured as i found out he likes to see the deer his side.Nothing .Now put down as a bad job and moved on .
  3. Having checked zero on the rifle after the previous events and found it spot on,i took my son to a spot that ive not long aquired. I took along the .22 aswell. The focus here is on predator control but the landowner also wants the deer reduced abit as well as few rabbits, dirty job i know but someones got to do it .The evening was bright with a stiff breeze, luckily blowing in our faces. As we descended the valley side ,a muntie doe appeared not 10 yds in front looked at us and scarpered into the gorse .Stalking along the bottem glassing up i saw a roe doe under a hawthorn bush picking at the
  4. Yes mate ,first place i looked .Not much of a stream and slow moving .Not so much as a muddy hoof print .Buggers just vanished .Back there today with a few more lads .Hate getting beat .Carcass wont be any good but its satisfaction im after now and to find the entry ,exit wounds plus hes bordering on a medal for certain .
  5. Too many holes of wrong sort mate for any terrier i know of .
  6. The dog is a GWP.Decent by all accounts but couldnt make anything of the washed out trail .Cannot make head nor tail of it really as not come across this situation before. The bloodtrail ceasing from a good squirt to nothing is bafffling enough without not finding the animal dead in the stream.Should have phoned a few more in hindsight but i was convinced i would find it before long, dead .In reply to Alimac the reason i dont have a deer dog at mo is that ive not long pts my own lurcher that was first rate dead or alive on them .Mate has one in training so wont be long hopeful .Should have p
  7. So ,what is apparent is that religious people are indeed denser than atheists .Believe in nothing and no one but yourself can let you down .FD ,last post to date, verse 1 of the trials of life .
  8. Just in from a third look for a buck I shot last night.Very strange occurance to be honest. Stalked a farm yesterday eve where there is a very wide hedge deviding the boundary .I came over a brow to see a very good buck with a doe just step out the hedge and start feeding on a bramble.I was in full view so slowly sank to crawling position .Got into about 150 yds when the bucks head went up and stared in my direction.I was rumbled.Cranked up the mag to 12 and squeezed off a round as he had turned broadside. He signalled and followed the doe into the cover .This thick hedge has a stream through
  9. Glad to hear nothing, worse than hard work taken down ..
  10. Before you go ahead with the barn mate you might want to consult local planning office .I know a lad that went ahead without, now they are enforcing demolition .The drawback with all planning issues is that you are then on the radar and that water may cease to flow .If you are into it for the long term then my advice would be to go through proper channels as it can all end badly and the dream smashed overnight .Good luck though mate.
  11. I would say its just a case of rough play .If you want grudges then keep terriers mate .I would do my utmost to work them together. They are working dogs i take it.
  12. Nice to see you all getting along in this section lol
  13. Does that include sporting rights though as wouldnt be the case here.
  14. Just an observation mate and not a critism.Youve been lucky so far in that those pigs havnt pushed out under but the day will come .You need some electric fence near the bottem and more space for them mate. You are very lucky though and i wish you well.
  15. Its the colour of the blood you want to be concerned with mate .If its watery ,brown then its natural but bright red continuous is a cause for concern .Should slow up if former but latter will require a checkup.
  16. Except unlike you mere mortals im right more than im wrong
  17. are these foxes fairly urban though foxdropper? im betting they arent if they are how you describe?, by me there is a lot of urban fox and they do seen to stay put alot longer Totally rural mate .Never considered urban foxes as ive never had anything to do with them .My fingers engage before the brain most times as a man can only comment truthfully on what hes seen in life.As said a man has only to walk near a litter here and they are move .If theres trouble we wait until they are moved normally before having them as the farmer will have been to every hole normally .
  18. Well spotted Cappy Should read 84 for 84,lol.
  19. Just a little story here which illustrates what im getting at -Several years ago the local estate was told by Wessex woodland to cull the fallow or the grant system would stop .The estate not wanting to lose a massive tree planting grant agreed and put together a plan to use the services of local stalkers in high seats to cull as many does and prickets as poss in a day.I was lucky enough to get an invite along with many others i knew .22 rifles in all of which 2 had any dsc paperwork but all having served time the proper way .The day went very well with 98 shots fired and 97 deer killed outri
  20. Dont know where your at with scotland thing mate .Phoned 5 outfits this morning with a view to taking my boy for a stag this fall and not one mentioned paperwork ,one even saying it meant nothing when i pressed it..All asked what calibre i was using which was expected .To buy a lease maybe but not visiting so maybe you are out of your depth a bit in your knowledge OR there are plenty that dont care about paper ,your choice now maybe. One things for sure ,we wont roll over as easy as you softies
  21. Only moved then because the earths are stinking with old remains .The cubs spread themselves out as they get older .
  22. Because some respond to nothing less .Never in my life have i known a vixen not to move cubs at the slightest disturbance, ffs you only walk by them down here and they are gone .Not necessarily far but moved all the same.Cant believe foxes are that different across the country .
