    Just re-read this through and one lad really has no idea and thats gonetoearth .He has no idea what line breeding has done ,is doing ,therefore it cant be true .Spouting shite that most see through yet not many speak out about .Read some of his posts here and try make sense of the many contradictions . Back to reality and im surprised to read some posts talking about running pups through empty places .How they achieve this is beyond me,ive never owned anything that wanted in where there was nothing at home as some will surely agree.     If a dog dont /wont mark on a lead it cant work.If it wont work its no good to me .If a dog goes for any amount of time not marking i want to know why but seriously once a terrier is started i wouldnt doubt it ever .

    If a dog walks away that decision is absolute for me .No ifs no thoughts on what might be ,walk on .If another man wants to check behind me fair play but i can honestly say ive only ever seen a dog proved wrong once in 30yrs and that was a dog i had doubts about anyway .If you cant trust a dog from the off you are on a loser from the very start . You cannot train a dog to mark the same as i couldnt get a dog to run a place that was empty.

    For my part if the dogs bred right it will mark right.If a young dog says no ,unless we are on pest control,I never question it have never needed to.The dog is born with the desire to work and the only way it knows how is to go to the scent that draws it.Must be some shite out there if it needs to travel empty places for confidence or whatever. A waffling terrier is worse than useless and is a cull in my book. As to hounds marking they are made or broken by the actions of those around them at the time of a mark .The huntsmen off his horse praising hounds at every mark is the worse offender.H

    In my experience actual copulation will only take place when the doe has accepted a buck .The mass congregations are rare imo with does not too fussy when approached by an ardant male .Ive seen many copulations and one thing they all had in commen was sweat loads of it .The doe stops, he mounts and goes like the clappers repeated every ten yards or so. The r thing that determines a hares seat is the weather when left alone with woods preferred in winter and rough grass in summer around us anyway. Watched a hare suckle last year after which she washed the kit before washing herself thorough

    Bluebells everywhere here mate ,Any rolling scuffing or footprint stands out a mile but nothing .We looked again yesterday morning with the neighbouring farmer involved too although a bit strained .Hes a bit off with whats occured as i found out he likes to see the deer his side.Nothing .Now put down as a bad job and moved on .

    Having checked zero on the rifle after the previous events and found it spot on,i took my son to a spot that ive not long aquired. I took along the .22 aswell.The focus here is on predator control but the landowner also wants the deer reduced abit as well as few rabbits,dirty job i know but someones got to do it .The evening was bright with a stiff breeze,luckily blowing in our faces.     Yes mate ,first place i looked .Not much of a stream and slow moving .Not so much as a muddy hoof print .Buggers just vanished .Back there today with a few more lads .Hate getting beat .Carcass wont be any good but its satisfaction im after now and to find the entry ,exit wounds plus hes bordering on a medal for certain .

    The dog is a GWP.Decent by all accounts but couldnt make anything of the washed out trail .Cannot make head nor tail of it really as not come across this situation before.The bloodtrail ceasing from a good squirt to nothing is bafffling enough without not finding the animal dead in the stream.Should have phoned a few more in hindsight but i was convinced i would find it before long, dead .In reply to Alimac the reason i dont have a deer dog at mo is that ive not long pts my own lurcher that was first rate dead or alive on them .Mate has one in training so wont be long hopeful .Should have p

    Just in from a third look for a buck I shot last night.Very strange occurance to be honest. Stalked a farm yesterday eve where there is a very wide hedge deviding the boundary .I came over a brow to see a very good buck with a doe just step out the hedge and start feeding on a bramble.I was in full view so slowly sank to crawling position .Got into about 150 yds when the bucks head went up and stared in my direction.I was rumbled.Cranked up the mag to 12 and squeezed off a round as he had turned broadside.He signalled and followed the doe into the cover .This thick hedge has a stream through
