  1. I wasn't too far off then Neil. Lol. The last question makes sense now.
  2. I don't think it's controversial either. It's just a down to earth book about how Badger Digging was carried out humanely and decently with no frills, despite what the Antis and suchlike try to have us believe.
  3. Tuzo is the book on ebay supposed to be a First Edition? I'm pretty sure the First Editions don't have the 1985 in the first page. I was led to believe they had no year date inside and then the second Editions had the 1985 stamped in?
  4. Well said Neil. Got to keep your cards close to your chest until the right lads come along. Wannabes and Bullshitters are ten a penny in the dog world unfortuntely.
  5. The Badger book is a fantastic piece of work IMO. I always find with DHs books that he looks at things from a different view point to most people and it really gets you thinking once you've put the book down.
  6. RIP. Another well known character in the dog world leaves us.
  7. Everyone Ive seen use the red box has whinged about it for one reason or another. The button sticking seems to be the main concern.
  8. Lovely spring AT. Love the curve to it,cracking stamp.
  9. Dug a vixen on Monday when opened her up Cubs were size of a runner bean, few weeks off here . lad I work with snared a dog and vixen in same midden opened her up she was either barren or to early to showYeah I think there few and far between atm. Had 2 Vixens last week with no signs of pregnancy.
  10. Good to hear mate. When we dug my dog the quarry was dead too. Totally blocked off the air. Haidhelliwr theres 100% cubs about. My mate has dropped on 3 litters and another mate dug a Vixen the other day with cubs in her. Also a mate in NI has dropped on them too.
  11. Was he digging tight to cubs AT? Thats usually the problem this time of year digging to strong dogs, they push up too tight. I lost one this time of year about 8 years ago. It's not nice.
  12. Good day Fatman. Sounds like there's plenty of sport to be had where you are. Good to hear all dogs went well too!
  13. I liked him too! F*ck I didnt think that dog would be 10 now! Time flies.
  14. Did you see any in the Century before that?
  15. There's a dog here being dug to twice as much as anything else and he's twice as old as the eldest terrier here bar him. He's ten...or at least ten next time...pluck a few grey hairs off him and he'd pass as 5/6 years old easy. His confirmation hasn't changed much if any since his prime whereas some ten year old terriers iv seen are looking half dead.Is that the big Red dog Goat?
  16. At a guess for 18 I'd say 'Stopping out' means stopping the earths so the foxes can't go to ground and 'Putting to' means leaving them open so they can get to ground.
  17. I've dug to 2 different Borders. Handy dogs, but not out and out digging dogs. When I've quizzed my Grandad about his memorable days out there is always mention of more than one Border to ground. This will have been the 60s. I'm not crabbing their ways, it was all they knew. Different era and different outlook. I think that the Patterdale/Fell Terriers got lucky in that they landed roughly at the same time that the locators arrived and single handed dogs became the thing to have and obviously the rest is history.
  18. 1.1966 2. 3.peter gorman 4.Thatch 5. Sealyham 6.France 7 1998 8 Eddie Chapman 9 Lunesdale 10 Sparrow 11 Canis Lupus 12 1990 13 Wheaten 14 Yes 15 Eskdale and Ennerdale 16 Before 17 Rudder 18 Beats the boredom of work Neil lol
  19. That just made me smile Jigsaw. That's exactly what the b*****ds should get. Did the rats spill the beans on who they were stealing the dogs for?
  20. Well said Goat. I hope all goes well and hes gets a good send off.
