Has the dog got no siblings or close bred bitches you could use? Is the dog well bred with littermates working, or is he a one off?

It's life choices IMO. You choose the life of working away for good money BUT you see less of your family and dogs plus put more pressure on the Mrs. Or you work in a lesser paid job and are home every night, don't havto rely on anyone to look after the dogs and put less strain on your relationship. It's your own personal choice.

Would it not be worth trying to get a job closer to home? To be fair my lass has no problem with the dogs but I wouldnt expect her to look after them for two weeks at a time aswell as the kids.

It's a lot about how they're brought up, socialised and entered. I find it baffling how some lads always have workers, and others always have nothing and are chopping and changing bloodlines all the time. They'll sort it regardless. I had the same problem and they sent me a brand new one. As long as you havent tampered with it.
