  1. I agree with Dev's post. A proper 'digging' dog should be able to deal with everything you throw at him, I wouldn't want a terrier to be a bushing dog, because the chances are as soon as they get there noses down or come across an earth they'll be in.
  2. Some of the younger lads have the same standards and outlook on terriers too Buster...
  3. I don't mean trying them to ground everytime out Dev, I mean just having them out on digs, and when they 'click' they're usually doing cartwheels on the lead, then I'll try them at an earth...
  4. I'm in north east so eyes and ears open, get some pics up. There will be lads on here that know what's happening with these stolen dogs and are either turning a blind eye or have a part in the thefts. Good luck.
  5. From what I've seen with dogs I've entered, I think it's best to just get them out, showing them earths, showing them quarry, showing them digs etc. etc. and just getting used to general things like being close to the dig and near the spade, IMO putting them back in the kennel to ''think about it'' for a couple of months would be a totally backward step and not something I would do, if a pup wasn't interested I'd just keep persevering until he decides he's ready.
  6. We'll be starting to check earths in the next week or so, won't be out with the lurchers for another 3 weeks or so probably, lot of wheat and rape still up where we are.
  7. I'd beg to differ with you there. My dog took everything single handed, I know other lads including some that are on here that have/had dogs and bitches that could also take everything single handed. FACT.
  8. Pre-ban...I liked a dog that would do all quarry but excel where deer are concerned. Our main aim was deer, if something else got up then we'd run it. Here's a pic of my old dog, did the job for us.
  9. Nice pup Dev, good luck with him mate...
  10. I'll second that, was a good forum while it lasted. Lahosh seemed a knowledgeable fella.
  11. Looks a nice place Lanesra, what other wildlife is there ? Foxes, badgers, hares etc.? cheers
  12. They are excessive prices but to keep your trusty companion alive it's worth it IMO, had lurcher ripped from chest to just between back legs off barbed wire...that was about £350, had the same dog poisoned by 'Stricline'(Spelling?) that the farmer had left out for poachers, dog was fitting and foaming at the mouth, carried him all the way home on my shoulders, got him to the vets just in time. They kept him 3 nights and said he was lucky to make it...that was £390. Had a young terrier in that wouldn't eat and looked swollen, had him in, said he had a blockage, they kept him in and drained away
  13. Good quality and service, onto my 3 rd and 4 th season with two different sets of couplings and no sign of weakening or stitching coming loose, top notch.
  14. Nice dogs lads, black and tan looks built for the job.
  15. I'm no David Bailey by any stretch but managed to get these decent shots while on my hols. Seen these two Pelicans on rocks off the beach so got as close as I could... As I got closer one got spooked and flew away but this one didn't seem phased by me at all... And closer... And closer... Until he gave me a smile... Couple more pics...
  16. Mixture, mainly saluki/grey. Father is 1/8th whippet.
  17. Yeah she's out of 'Blue' mate, she's about 25" I'd say.
  18. Young bitch ready to start this season, 10 months now so just right to start once the fields drop. Here's hoping she has what it takes...
  19. Good video there mate. Are yous behind a hide there or not? The deer was totally oblivious to you, even being so close.
  20. He was about 13-131/2", quite solidly built, a good little stamp. Lost him to ground in January.
  21. Nice looking bitch there TopNotch. Here's a Nuttall dog.
