  1. I think that's a bad way to look at it, to me 'being trustworthy' is the main attribute of a good dog man. If I had a dog worthy of being used at stud I'd only let lads I trusted use it and the bitch would have to be good in my eyes, because different people have different standards.
  2. Were the wound's like a fox or a badger Liam? i.e on top or underneath? There's an old bitch up our way my mate used to have that had scars on the middle of her back from an Otter.
  3. They must be more abundant than people think, I know of 3 road kill otters within about a 3 mile radius of where I live within the last couple of months. Also two different local lads that have bolted one when out looking for foxes in the season.
  4. Nice pups, don't need to guess what breeding they are. must be Stevens?
  5. I always use Seeland's range of trousers. They're comfortable and just the tool for the job IMO, and with most being between £60-£100 they're pretty cheap to replace.
  6. I'm sure the 'summer' or 'fine weather' hunters will be the death of a lot of the fox cubs this summer.
  7. The longer they are the more they fetch, small ones about £40, bigger ones about £100. So I've heard...
  8. Got your hands full there Dee, good luck with them mate.
  9. I know what you mean with the Bellman coming down on the side of the dog, we've had it over and over through the last few seasons. You say that you push the bar through to locate the tube then dig, I've never tried it as i've always thought if daylight hit the dog and quarry it would spook the quarry and try to push the dog a lot harder than if you were just digging down?
  10. Nice dog there mate, good luck with it.
  11. I've never tried these bark collars, heard mixed reports on them, but like Wilfred has said if they assosciate the collar with having to keep quiet surely they won't dare make a sound when they've got normal or Bellman collars on?
  12. They are cracking stamps them mate, like the two 'Mullet' pups...
  13. Another good little book, with some quality snaps. Nice to see Darcy has seen sense and took the choccy drop route...
  14. I only go out on the hope that I'm going to be digging. It's nice to get a few bolts to get the numbers up, but most of the time when they bolt the dog hasn't been near them. My main aim is to work the dog, and that's what a dig will do.
  15. Look like they've thrown true to the line them Buster...be nice to know how they all do...
  16. If there's any big logs lying about, we put them down from where your digging and pile the spoil up against them. Always seems to work well.
  17. Some good pics there. I started with two second season dogs with high hopes. Lost one to ground couple weeks ago, so just got the one to carry me through the rest of the season. 'Stan'...the dog I lost to ground. And 'Clay' after digging a charlie in December.
  18. Good post that Ian , sounded like it came straight from the heart...
  19. Topper pic that Buster, we'll havto dig a couple of them next invite I get down yours...
  20. I'll join... Just looked on the site, the closest one to me ( North Yorkshire) doesn't have a representative?
  21. Still no sign of the bitch, no more shit, cheers.
