  1. Good going...nice to see them get away...
  2. Always use nets when out with the terriers. Not to kill the foxes but just to have a hold of him before he's left to run, better sport than just seeing him out and away IMO...
  3. Only ever use my terriers for digging, beating stuff out of woods for the big dogs is our job...
  4. Good thread this. Out of interest what is it on the muntys that does the damage to the dogs?
  5. Badger digging 1st edition will fetch £100+ I'd imagine.
  6. Nice to get them this early in the season. Looks more like 0.4 than 1.4 though.
  7. I've had the same problem with my 6 year old lurcher since he was a pup, end of every summer the fur on the his back legs goes really thin and fluffy and looks bald, it stays the same all season then grows back around May time, only to happen again come Sept/October, I went to vets thinking it could be mites or alopecia or something like that and they said to try different things including aloe vera gel (which didn't work). I've also tried nu-stock aswell as aload of other things but nothing works. It doesn't seem to bother the dog or his performance so I think it's just one of them things. I'
  8. Too hot to dig and ground too hard to run the lurchers, hopefully get a good bit of rain fall this week...
  9. I don't think it's anything to do about whether your scared to handle the quarry or the quarry's too far up the tube, it's about seeing whether the 'draw dog' has what it takes to do it's job. Me and my mates don't use draw dogs we deal with it ourselves. I don't know many lads in England that do use them, seems to be a bigger thing in Ireland with the wheatens...
  10. I think it's more to do with getting sport for the 'draw dog' regardless of whether the quarrys right there or 3 foot up the tube...
  11. Nice type of bitch that mate, hope she carries on for you...
  12. I mean from the view of the owner, I know I wouldn't want to see a dog that had worked hard for me all it's life with it's head blown off. IMO the best thing would be to take a mate and ask him to do the deed.
  13. Looks like proper shitty digging that mate, well done to the terrier keeping the stuff in one spot with all the noise going on above him...
  14. I can imagine it's a difficult thing to do, but would havto do it with a rifle...a shotgun would make a mess and I'm sure your trusty tyke deserves better than that.
  15. I think it's a good idea, there'd be less bickering IMO as people would stick to the section that suits them.
  16. Look strong pups, look a similar stamp to the young dog you put pics up of last season.
  17. Can't understand why anyone would take a dog to a show with fresh wounds...
  18. I have Lowa extreme hunters, going into 3rd season and still going well, I had le Chameau's before these and don't rate them.
  19. Showing and shows really do nothing for me. Go to one or two every summer and that's enough. If it's not the wankers talking shite, name dropping and bigging their dogs up, it's the poncey dogs that have never seen work parading around, tail high in the air looking for treats off their owner...
  20. These prices are the reason dogs are getting taken from lads yards...
  21. Bringing them on from pups is THE best way hands down, that way you know they're socialised well with every day things, and when the time comes you know you've done the best you can for the dog and then it's all upto the dog. IMO a well socialsed dog that has total confidence in it's owner will have a better chance of becoming a good working dog than one that's passed about or even worse left in a yard till it's old enough to work and be expected to perform miracles. The phrase 'you only get out, what you put in' sums it up...
