  1. I have the Lowa extreme hunters and they've impressed me when digging and just general mooching, my mate has the Meindl's and can't fault them so I suppose either boot would be a good buy...
  2. I agree with Moo, digging topics are scarce between October-February on this forum, as soon as the Spring comes they start to appear, it's the same where I live...alot of lads go missing during the winter but as soon as the warmer weather comes they're 'flat out'...i like to call them 'Fine Weather Hunters'...
  3. A cracking post there Spiderpig, that's the type of post that makes this forum worthwhile...
  4. Heard about the bitch going , hope you find her mate...
  5. TIDY MATE, LIKE THE LOOK OF HIM, WAT AGE IS .. ALL THE BEST MATE TDJNR 16/17 month, only a first season pup mate
  6. My 'Gouldy' based pup, similar stamp to that 'Kimbo'...
  7. Not trying to put you or your dogs down Dev, but that works out at roughly 10 digs per dog all season which isn't a lot in fairness, wouldn't you rather have 2 dogs with 20 odd digs a piece? 3 of them only started this season, one pup had 3 digs towards the end of season, 2 other pups had 7 digs each, my bitch had 12 digs as she missed the first part of the season due to pups.and my dog had 19 digs. dogs are easily lost rabbit hunter as im sure you know,if i had only 2 with 20 odd digs each then i would now be down to a single terrier as i lost my dog after his last dig. it suits me much

  9. I prefer to couple terriers, but I've found some terriers will sulk and pull back if they're coupled with a stronger dog, it is ideal so you've got the other hand free to carry digging tackle etc.
  10. My mate has one, they're solidly built but IMO the spade head is too big and clumsy...if that was adjusted and made smaller they would be handy bits of kit...
  11. I've bolted a couple from drains where you could hear the fox running up the tube in water before hitting the net...also had a young pup out last week, after checking earths all morning we came to a kicked out one holer in a dyke with very fresh signs so showed the dog and he went beserk to get in on the lead, however the entrance was half filled with water and looking in with the torch it went like this for about 3 foot before the tube rose up and was dry, we collared up the pup and let him off and he just didn't have the experience to put two and two together and go through the water, so we
  12. Looks a nice dog there Drifter, and what a shame to lose him like that, I'm just waiting for Busterdog to breed me one like that...
  13. A decent dog I lost to ground at the back end of last season, we had some good digs to the little dog...RIP Brock...
  14. Yes he was a rough coated dog it sounds like him he was a keen young dog i never worked him to ground as he was 10 months old ,i ended that line to concentrate on my black dogs he was given to some one who i was told gave him to a gamekeeper in cumbria (more like he was sold for a profit) where abouts is this dog that you know pal ?? He bought it off a lad up our way, dug it 2 or 3 times, but it seemed to be going off the boil with old age?? And would bay at fresh air, he sold it back to the lad a couple of month later, don't have a clue where it went?? I know he found out a bit abou
  15. He was up our way a couple of month back and had a couple of choc dogs with him.
  16. What he's saying is there's that much hype about chocolate dogs that it's taking away the most important aspect of terriers and that's the working ability...stick to the ugly black dogs and the only reason you'll be keeping them is because of their working ability...that's the way I see it anyway...

  18. If it the same dog, a lad I know had a rough coated white dog called 'Brock' that he bought, he had it last season and I would say it's age matched with the dog you're talking about. It was very Sealyham-ish and would scream and cry on if it was coupled up on a dig...from what I can gather it had been a good dog in its day, had signs of 'work'...I'm sure it came from south Yorkshire somewhere??
  19. I'm looking for a phone number for M.D from Shildon, he keeps black terriers. PM cheers.
