USA was importing twice what they exported to China , so trump began to rebalance the import export, something like 300-600 billion deficit. I think it's mighty likely that USA has the world by the dollar, and anyone trying to get around it isn't going to last long, whether Libya or any other state. If I were donning a tin hat I might say Russia was contemplating crypto conversion with China lol. I'm kidding mind

Nah mate most sanctions are freezing of assets , shutting down currencies, banks, businesses, personal accounts, etc etc. China might have offered to buy oil and gas or raw materials, but not much they can do to replace money, and if Russia has nothing China won't want to know, another important reason Russia won't be allowed to win is that China will see it as a free pass ....

I honestly don't believe he envisaged anything like the fallout he's brought upon Russia, Germany exacerbated this by with holding weapons from Ukraine, maintaining the pipeline project etc. Let's face it most felt the forces on the Ukrainian border were to intimidate rather than invade....that has pasted and now he is all in , with little room to come out of it. I think he's finished win or lose , he'll have made preparations to protect himself . If the army or a general or two turn on him they'll still have to hunt him down and have a way to shut down nuclear weapons etc. As regards sanction

Probably been covered but first of oligarchs spoke out against the war today, after EU sanctions kicked in yesterday....a Russian bank lost 97% off London stock exchange today....gonna bite them hard.

Everyone has an opinion, I for one didn't ever imagine Russia sending kids and conscripts into war, running out of diesel, being told they were there for training then ringing their mums telling them they've been sent to war , being told they'd be welcomed as a freeing force in Ukraine....

I'm of two minds, one Ukraine surrenders , they evacuate and allow Russia to take it , in expectation that Putin will shortly be ended by his own...two NATO steps in and offers air support , or in the guise of Poland or someone and wipes out the convoy whilst protecting airspace from nukes etc. Unfortunately I think it's going to be annihilation of Ukraine cities whilst the world watches and says how brave they are. Maybe countries might send in special forces in the guise of ex forces to completely feck the convoy up , which doesn't seem to be traveling at speed and reportedly has break

The betrayal of Ukrainians in particular cannot be understated. In 1994, the Ukrainian government signed a memorandum that brought its country into the global Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty while formally relinquishing its status as a nuclear state. The text of that agreement stated that in exchange for the step, the “Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine.”

Ukraine is in Europe, it has asked to join NATO, promises were made when they relinquished nuclear arsenal. NATO may begin process but were only going to allow them so far along the application, this may all change, I think states might want to see them in NATO but only my opinion. NATO has not put boots on the ground officially at least, as far as I'm aware. EU has shut airspace to all things russian , they're next in line for Putin's dream, so I'd imagine they'll all be glad to get him dealt with whilst supporting democracy in a sovereign Ukraine
