My own feeling is we don't need Video Assistant REFEREES ! The on field ref has his two linesmen, sorry, "assistant referees", and the "fourth official" If the on field ref isn't sure, or thinks he's made a mistake or any of his three assistants have queried his decision, then he can look at video replays and make his decision. I think the on field ref should have the absolute final say, not having to be over ruled by an off field ref. Yes, VAR should only be for offside and goal line decisions. Just my own opinion of course, others opinions may differ ! ?? Cheers

Quite a few teams and managers are far from happy with VAR this weekend. Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, and others, all complaining about VAR decisions have lead th EPL to ask the Refs governing body to look into VAR decisions that simply don't stand up to scrutiny. I thought VAR was to give definitive decisions on things like offside and If a ball had fully crossed a goal line, but it appears it's now being used to decide on fouls , etc , and the VAR ref over ruling The on field ref. Using one mans judgment to overule another mans judgement wasn't, in my mind, what VAR

I've told this story before, but anyway; A young lad at the Allotments came to see me and said he had been called in to the dole for an interview and to bring his c.v. with him, so it could be put on file. He didn't know what a c.v. was, so I explained it to him. I said to tell them he didn't know what a c.v. was but he'd looked into it and I was going to help him construct one and we would email it to them. They weren't interested and sanctioned him and stopped his money for a month. Shithouses, jobsworth, box ticking shithouses....... Cheers.

Ken, I'm talking about people who are functionally illiterate, adults who cant read or write. I did a three month pro bono stint teaching benefit applicants how to set up an email account and construct a c.v. when the dole offices closed and went on line. I was both supprised and appalled at how many 30/40/50 year olds couldn't read or write. You must have took the opportunity to advance your education in the army to reach the level you did, and as well as formal education, you must have gained "life experience and education" on your travels. There's far to many in this su

Yes , of course people who graft deserve every respect.....not everyone is a Hawkins or an Einstein ! Its people who work hard or try to educate themselves that deserve the plaudits......not those that wallow in self pity and blame everyone for their predicament. Of course there are people in society that need help, and we should never forget them , but it's the people who won't help themselves, not those that can't help themselves, that need to look in the mirror ? Cheers.

Education is the only answer. The more educated you are, the farther you'll go. Yes, of course there is nepotism, yes of course there's "who you know" ! But if you are ignorant you'll get no where, and be used by people with more education. Learning to read and write is the absolute basic, and, sadly, far too many don't even reach that standard. Dont be part of the "poor me, everyone else is to blame" underclass......strive for better ? Cheers.

I'm on about the 400 yards straight racing at Wolsingham show, Max. They haven't had it for some years now, but I seem to remember Andy winning it and there was bookies on at the time. Also remember Craig winning the trotting some years back. My memory may be going but I think the greyhound racing and the trotting were on the Monday ? Cheers.

I don't take things too seriously these days mate ? Ive seen the highs and the lows, and arguing with strangers on the internet is well in my past. Im just enjoying what some, ( not me !), would call the " twilight years", and enjoying life ! Cheers.
-
What took you down the bull route Andy ? Will you be at Wolsingham at the week end ? I seem to remember you having some success at the Greyhound racing there a long time back ? Cheers.

How many times have I told you ? "Be nice to people, and they'll be nice to you " ! Dear God, are we going to have to go back to the basics ? ??? Cheers.

I worked for a major engineering company in their hydraulic lab for a while Mainly on axial piston pumps, motors and transmissions. The design team would design it, we would build it and test it, usually to destruction.. What Im trying to say is designs and theories are ok, but you won't know 'till you try it ! ? Cheers.

No apologies needed ? I can take a thread off track with the best of them ! I just seem to have missed the connection ! ? ! Cheers.

I know threads tend to meander on here, but what has being well known in the lurcher/Terrier game got to do with a load of black people having a carnival in London ? Maybe it's just my age.......but I'm confused ? ?? Cheers.

A true story. My mate had a stable and paddock on a country lane, the only other building was next door, a very nice, old, stone built cottage owned by an eminent surgeon. My mate applied for planning permission to build a cottage on the paddock that would be completely in keeping with the other cottage. He was told the land was green belt and a wild life corridor and planning was objected to by the surgeon and was therefore refused. Some time later my mate had an offer to buy his land, by a developer, that was simply to good to refuse, so he sold. Almost immediately b

Never grew the black variety, but did grow the chocolate variety one year. Contrary to the name, they don't taste of chocolate, they just have chocolate brown skins. I've had a great crop this year from plants I was given off a lad on the Allotments. Various types, all doing well; Cheers.

He couldn't possibly say. OSA, old boy, OSA ? Cheers.

I can't remember HAVING to catch something to eat because there was nothing in the 'fridge, but I can remember not having a 'fridge.....or a 'phone, or a telly ? I know when times were a little tough, we would sell rabbits around the pubs and clubs, there was allways a market for them back then, or we would steal a box of fish or crabs from the fish quay to sell, but it was never because we were starving, it was for our beer money or to put petrol in the old van. I still eat most of what I catch or give it away. I like cooking and eating game, and it fits in with my hobby, sport, pas
