  1. I will definately take you up on that mate, thank you. As soon as it warms up a little i intend to do a few trips with the kayak and campervan. It'll be really good to get out with someone who knows what they are doing rather than teaching myself from youtube!
  2. A decent bass from the rocks, my first boat fishing trip and a few mackerell from the kayak - or anything out the sea in the kayak to be honest!
  3. That is my kind of hunting. I'd sooner do that and catch nowt than bag up on the lamp. Each one sticks in your memory.
  4. Any 12v set up will charge off solar. Ive lived off grid and used my lithium lamp batteries alot. They are also handy to use as mobile back up yo charge phone etc
  5. To be fair none of what we do is strictly necessary is it? It fulfills something in us that i guess has been there since the stone age. Ive always hunted and camped, im just going to make more of an effort to combine the two. Theres certainly not much actual wilderness around me but there are places that are out of the way enough to please me
  6. Good to hear its not just me these things happen to ....
  7. I think i might well still be in my feral stage ?
  8. Cheers lads. Once theres a few kess dark hours it'll mean be able to stalk til late and then be in the right spot first thing without any disturbance. Sadly we dont have much in the way of moors or fells here but i'll find somewhere nice in the woods for a base camp. I will chuck some pics up when i give it a go. Heres one of NZ. Love that place!
  9. It seems to be the done thing in other places, NZ, Oz and the states. I guess because they have state forest to hunt. It looks to add a whole new dimension to hunting, a bit of adventure that we lack in the way we stalk. I did a couple of nights away in NZ, hiking into mountains to stalk reds - unsuccessfully as it happens, but that trip was more about pig hunting so was more focussed on that. Im going to do a few over nights once the roe buck season starts, see if i can create my own adventure. Does anyone else do it here?
  10. I use ltl acorn ones, both wireless and static, for work, although i just bought two more off the link above to add to my collection. The daytime quality is very good in both pics and videos. At night they are good enough but more grainy. They can run on data or text but data is cheaper. Mine are set to send me pics via email then take video. I dont know the running costs exactly but cant be too dear or i would hear all about it!
  11. I use both types for a place i do the security one. Set the wireless ones to email only rather than text. Much cheaper to run. I hardly ever catch what im looking for but get plenty of wildlife pics sent to me at silly o clock in the morning
  12. Very kind of you. Please do send me a message when you are up and running. I have a mate who has told me good things about that boat too. Once the weather is less dire i will give it a try
  13. Is the spirit of arun moored at littlehampton? Pretty sure ive heard of it
  14. Im planning more for the summer months than now, to be fair the thought of being at sea in this kind of weather doesnt appeal to me! Im based in west sussex but would travel to most of the southern half of the country if it meant a good trip.
  15. So where wolves domesticated and turned into dogs or were dogs wild originally and then domesticated?
  16. That is a good question. I dont know what the options are to be honest. Ive not fished properly out of a boat at sea here but did it in NZ and really enjoyed it. Definatrly like to catch some mackerell but bigger fish would be good too. Im into catch and cook rather than catch and release ideally. What do you suggest?
  17. Ive next taken a boat fishing trip in tgis country, wheres the bedt place to go from? Im based in sussex but would be eilling to travel for a decent trip
  18. He was made up i think. He is here til the Autumn so ive promised him a roe buck over the summer too. Willow was pissed off having to wait for the photo, she wanted her bit of liver!
  19. Year before last i took a trip to NZ and had a whale of a time. The lads i met there were true gents and looked after me very well with stalking, pig hunting and fishing galore. In return i offered to take them or their mates out if they were ever in the UK. This weekend was the first chance i got to return the favour. A young kiwi lad came down from Londin where he is staying to shoot a roe. We had a good weekend even with saturdays weather and he took a nice roe doe off sticks on saturday and went on a vermin drive on sunday. He got on the train absolutely shattered sunda
  20. Put the work in. Start off asking for ferreting and airgunning. Do a good job and dont mention lurchers until you have built up a good relationship and they trust you.
