  2. Yes! Would be interested to know why you said that deker. Is it a personnel thing or is it that are not very good??????? ...or is it he was joking?
  3. Walshie has it as usual. A little more ...... I have the .223 Tikka and it is reliable and accurate, I have experience of the Remington Varmint .223, also very accurate but ridiculously heavy. One to seriously consider is the CZ plastic stock .223. My experience with it shows it to be very accurate and relatively inexpensive, and light, used to be the old 527 synthetic but may now be http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-527-m1-american-223-rem-flush-mount-magazine/
  4. there you go, learn something all the time!
  5. Cheers, I don't think it is a moorhen, I'm reasonably familiar with them, my money is on the Waterhen from the pic. MANY THANKS!
  6. I appreciate the pictures are terrible, but I don't know what this is, it's about the size of a magpie (but doesn't have the tail feathers) Any ideas? Cheers
  7. Can't he get closer, 250-300 yards under a lamp is a long way!
  8. As others have said an Open (or Unrestricted as they seem to prefer these days) is just that, the choice is yours. A FEO can say what he likes, its your FAC status and conditions that count. Have a nice 2017. PS I don't quite follow the OP here, does he have an Open FAC or not?
  9. It's up to you of course, but I have several sites where I have to deal with geese, primarily Canada geese, and head shots off the bipod out to 100 or even slightly further are not much of an issue. I tend to use the HMR for this! If it is just Geese control then I generally use my WMR, you can place the shot almost anywhere you like and they fall down, the HMR needs to be delivered to more vulnerable areas of their bodies. A .223 with any ammo you like delivered to the head will work just fine if you want to eat them.
  10. What gun were you foxing with? What's wrong with using a rifle on the geese?
  11. It isn't that simple, start with the General Licence/s, and be aware there are some differences in different parts of the UK. Then there are reasons why some animals/birds can be controlled, whereas it is virtually open season on others. BASC also has some guides. Etc, etc., etc..................
  12. Coming to this a little late, I have 2 of the 6-24x56, they are fine, but certainly not exceptional, and one sits on a centrefire.
  13. Yep, best check with your FEO. I have a 10 gun vault, called FEO who came out and wrote `good for 15` on his paperwork. It doesn't matter a jot what size the cabinet lists at, or what any FEO writes down, or tells you about how many it holds. He is flexing muscles he doesn't have! If you can get 20 guns in a 3 gun cabinet its legal. The FEO has no control on gun numbers in any cabinet, there is no legal requirement for him to know your cabinets listed quantity or for him to dictate to you how many you can get in. Any other suggestion from him is BS, if in doubt read this.....
  14. Masses of people use air very effectively on rabbits!
  15. Smart??? Cautious and nervous perhaps, and indeed neophobic. Persevere!
  16. This is/was a standard part, should be available from any Beretta RFD. Failing that try GMK.
  17. Why not try a HMR next time with V-Max and ask which county all the pieces landed in! :D
  18. Just heading off to Bisley and having a quick scan here before I go. ...????? can you post the video before I get back please?
  19. It is not uncommon to have 2 calibres the same, I actually have 3 x .22LR at the moment. Simple fact is you have to demonstrate a need, and yours does not appear to be strong enough in the eyes of your region. Dedicated night vision, target, other sites, etc may all work, as others have mentioned, but I think you may have a bit of a problem in the immediate short term. Have you spoken with BASC (other shooting organisations are available)? Good luck!
  20. Bit random perhaps, but I bought a twin cart pack a month or two back, used the colour and just went to use the Black when I realised I had bought the wrong pack, and it doesn't work in mine. The cart is open but brand new, I was just about to chuck it when I thought about offering it FREE to anyone who wants to collect from Reading. Cheers
